Owned by a member of ‘The Amity Affliction’ Crowbar is the première heavy music venue in Brisbane! Most nights of the week you will find killer entertainment from some of Australia’s best up and coming bands as well as some International superstars! There is an upstairs bar where you can drink and socialize and downstairs is the band room(plus another bar). The staff are fantastic and always look after you, the venue has a great vibe and you will be guaranteed to have an amazing night! Watch out for the drink specials– they are deadly!

Crowbar are awesome because they put up with me when I’m white-girl wasted. They consistently get good local and imported acts, and the staff are all super babin’ and friendly to chat to. It’s a good location, opposite the train station, next to Tony’s though so be wary of the creepers creepin’ about outside next door.

Although Crowbar has undergone renovations, with a new bar and updated furniture, it still misses the mark, mainly due to the lack of decent tap beer and the high prices they charge for what is generic, Australian beer. The sound is hit and miss and the bathrooms are pretty grotty. Unfortunately for me they have A LOT of live music, so if I want to catch a local metal band, chances are I’m going to end up at crowbar. I guess I shouldn’t complain, at least we have a venue that still has live heavy music, I just wish they’d either get better beer, and therefore can warrant charging a premium price, or they lower their beer prices to a more realistic price point.

One of my favourite live music venues. Metal, hardcore, punk, indie even cooking demonstrations! It’s a great intimate venue. Local bands usually on a Friday night costs a meagre $ 10. Great value. Lots of recent renovation means this bar has a lot to offer that sets it apart from other venues: A camera that livestreams the stage to the back of the venue onto wall TVs behind the bar so that you can watch the band. Handy for short people like myself! A small kitchen — Crowbar have recently partnered up with Bread and Meat Co to offer $ 3 sliders! The staff here are super friendly and no one is judged here! You’ll find young and old alike here. Come here after bands on Saturday night for a go at Crowieoke/karaōke and sing in front of strangers.

It’s right across the road from the Valley train station, and it’s where to go to see live heavy metal music in Brisbane. Some might say it’s a bit dingy, but it’s about as close to the(now closed) beloved«Her Majesty’s Bar»(aka«The Basement») as we’re ever going to get when it comes to a well organised, friendly atmosphered, dimly lit nightclub in a central part of town catering for people wanting to support Brisbane’s underground metal scene. Suburban pubs just don’t do the trick when it comes to metal. This venue even sometimes has small stall holders serving pies and pizza and things. The bar staff are always very nice too. Forget the stereotypes about metalheads. They’re some of the most polite people you’ll meet. Unlike those taking part in fights and glassings outside venues catering to fans of Top 40 pop music and dance music, the metal fans take their anger out on the music itself. Yet, even in the mosh pit, a taller metalhead will check behind him to see if anybody shorter would like to move in front for a better view of the bands. Crowbar is definitely worth a visit for rockers young and old.
