This op shop has what a lot of op shops don’t have these days… Great Prices! Yep, it’s still possible to pick up a shirt, skirt or shorts but just a couple of bucks. No one is going to pay $ 10 for a 2nd hand Target shirt when they are only $ 15 in the shop, brand new. So, this Red Cross is taking the right approach in selling by volume to raise money for their charity. This makes it a good option if you are looking for outfits for fancy dress parties, where you don’t want to spend a fortune for an outfit you may only wear once. Snaps to you McWhirter’s Red Cross!

Popped in here with a friend who was after some clothes to wear to the zombie walk. Had a good time finding the crazy clothes, but in addition to finding some very cheap bargains to ruin, she also found some great workwear for next to nothing too. Speaking of which, they had some good quality brand new work clothes. khaki shirts, trousers, etc for a pittance. Definitely worth a look in here, but it’s always about luck, finding something you like AND that fits.

I’m not sure how this Red Cross isn’t more picked through. Maybe it’s because they moved off the street into McWhirters some years ago. No skin off my nose, that’s the way I like my op shops! Yes, they have the now obligatory ‘Retro’ section(which means they just tripled the price they would have charged 5 years ago) however sometimes it’s nice having everything in one spot. Definitely worth a forage.

There’s a great op shop in the McWhirters building in the Fortitude Valley. The Australian Red Cross op shop has a fantastic Retro section of clothes — with costumes and vintage gear. They also have a good selection of books, shoes and clothes to rifle through and find a bargain.
