This weekend was the first time I’ve stepped foot into a golf complex, let alone used a golf club. I was accompanying my boyfriend who has recently started playing golf and wanted to practice his swing on the driving range. I was really impressed with the driving course and didn’t realised how modern the facilities are. Next to the bit of Turf is a machine with a touch screen where you can put in your golf card(like a prepaid system which you top up with money) and it tells you how many balls you have left and then a little cylinder pops up on turf and you’re ready to hit the ball. Surprisingly I actually had a lot of fun unfortunately it was a bit embarrassing considering there were so many skilled drivers. A little side note Sundays are more expensive than other days, but best to check their price list online.

I’m by no means a good golfer, more like the definition of a hack, but I do appreciate a cheeky round or a swing at the driving range — and Wembley is always my venue of choice. There are two courses at Wembley, the old and the new, both are beautifully maintained and quite challenging. They get pretty busy though so be prepared to call and book a tee time. The pro shop and driving range was renovated about a year ago and its sooo cool. Once upon a time you used to buy a bucket of balls and tee off from under a tin roof. Now you buy a certain number of balls, get a code, head over to the two storey range, choose a bay type in the code and the balls automatically pop up as you swing. Niccceee.
