I’ve been to «The dead rabbit» and«Employees only» in NYC(voted top 5 cocktail bars in the world) and I must say that this beats both in service, venue and cocktails. Deffo will be back.

This is one of those wonderful Melbourne bars that many will go on having never known it existed. Maybe you’ve even had a drink downstairs at The Black Pearl and missed it completely. The Attic feels like a sneaky secret, hiding upstairs for a cocktail in a more intimate setting. You will need to ring the doorbell and await to be let in. I did wonder if a secret handshake might be appropriate on entry, but apparently they will let anyone in as long as they have room. The cocktails are crafted with care by guys and gals that know their stuff. Don’t feel that you need to order from the menu, they will happily mix something up to suit your tastes. Just don’t get carried away like I did, the bill at the end might hurt if you stay a while. My only bugbear about the doorbell entry is that the bathroom is on the opposite side of the locked door. But then again, if you’ve made enough trips for this to be a noticeable annoyance to you, it’s probably time to pay that tab and head home.

Read about this new bar from Broadsheet, figured i had to try since a lot has been said about Black pearl. Bartenders were friendly and informative about the drinks, if you don’t like the drinks on the menu, they could mix one up based on your request. The only thing i didn’t like were the seats, i wish the arm rest would have been bigger. Other than that, Its a decent bar for people who appreciates the ingredients in their drinks. Will be back !

I went here on an empty night and the bar tenders were very happy to have a good chat and walk through the menu… It’s not open every weekday anymore but if you can get in on the weekend it is well worth it.

Nothing makes you feel special like having to ring a door bell to get in to a bar, a cheeky wink from a bartender, or a specially concocted cocktail that gets served with a side of orange blossom scented smoke wafting from a little jar of dry ice. Welcome to The Attic. The place where all these fantasies come true. It’s a little more grown up, a little less busy, and a lot more attentive than its kid brother downstairs — The Black Pearl. It’s the kind of place in which it’s easy to spend a few hours, staring in to the eyes of a hot date(or the bartenders) not realising that you’ve had two martinis too many and are slowly losing all feeling in your legs. It’s great. Go there.
