This is a great little place to stop for coffee and cake. The coffee is good and the cakes and pastries are gorgeous. Surprisingly, there’s actually vegan and gluten-free sweet options, too. I can highly recommend the chocolate zucchini cupcake. Absolutely delicious. The café itself has a few different seating options. Inside, in the back garden, or along the front porch. Only issue with the front porch is you’re practically on the street, so car noise and cigarette smoke from passers-by is unavoidable. Plenty of other seating inside though, so no issues.

Loved the outback area and the pastries are amazing. I also loved the artwork on the exterior of the building, very well done. By the way the coffee is delicious, there are also take home coffee beans if you want to bring the deliciousness with you.

Ahhhh, Grace; tucked away in Rose St, surrounded by carparks, you are my new crush! The peeps here are just so damn friendly and kind. Which means the café’s slogan of «kind food» also translates to «kind(amazing) service» too. Perfect! I’ve had breakfast here once and had the baked eggs — delish! I’ve also rushed in and out for takeaway coffees and PB on sourdough toast when I left my breakfast at home on the kitchen bench. *slaps forehead*. Being new to drinking coffee, I like their brews but am by no means an expert! I still have my L plates on when it comes to caffeine. The PB on sourdough toast is spread on so thick, it pretty much drips off, so be careful not to spill! I have definitely found my people as I am a firm believer that you can never have enough PB. #addicted With seasonal additions to the menu, stellar service and a vintage vibe, this place is just all kinds of lovely. Go and check it out!

Grace is an amazing lil café tucked down Rose St, just off Brunswick St. I am so glad I found this little place, which is Veggie/Vegan friendly. I found it during Vegan Day Out in Fitzroy, where they increased their vegan menu to cater for the day. It isn’t primarily a vegan place however, but does have a few options available. The most amazing thing about Grace is the vegan friendly chocolate zucchini cake. It’s just ridiculously amazing. Fantastic texture, not too rich, super tasty topping. I went back 3 times in 5 days. I was in a haze of chocolatey goodness! Please don’t go and eat them all though, I need my fix at least once a week ;) I had lunch there too, Quinoa and sweet potato patties(my friend made his meat-eater friendly, with some bacon). Tasty and well presented, although I personally prefer this place for a nice soy latte and gorgeous cake. They aren’t too costly and the place is rustic, fitting and unimposing. The staff are super pleasant and assist with a smile and recommendation.

Outstanding. Had a Brat and Avo/Feta on toast. Coffee fantastic. Temp and taste. Service was friendly but the food took a while. Don’t come here to eat if you are rushed. Parking next door. Lovely décor — hipsters paradise.

One of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. Great coffee and chai, scrumptious baked eggs(vegetarians must try!) Worth saving room for a dessert from the counter when you pay!

amazing cakes and wonderfully friendly waitresses(yes they all seem to be girls here). this little café is surrounded by classic Fitzroy graffiti and has a shipping container to compliment it’s courtyard. alas the food seems to be a little hit and miss at times. the chai however is a delight!

Fantastic setting, friendly staff, coffee was ok(although there are better options around if you just want coffee), good food. I’ll be back.

Hands-down the best people watching place in Fitzroy, if you nab one of the front porch stools(and it would appear there’s a male only weight-lifting gym nearby!). The menu is simple, but delicious, with a few varieties of baked eggs and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is excellent and there is an ever-changing display of pastries. The backyard area also has lovely, more secluded seating. A great stop before some Rose Street Market shopping about 10 metres away.

«This is so Melbourne,» said my friend visiting from Perth as we sat in Grace’s back patio. «And there’s stuff on the menu I don’t even know how to pronounce.» Mind, neither of those are bad things. The ambiance of Grace is indeed pure Melbourne: where else would you get a café in a house, on a residential side street, right next to an artists’ market? The interior is cozy and eclectic, the array of delectables at the front counter tempting.(I did manage to leave without purchasing any cupcakes or muffins or brioches, but only after an inner battle. My waistline came victorious.) Pick a chair out back and pretend you’re in your coolest friend’s house(which just so happens to be set up with more chairs and tables than normal). As far as the menu goes, I’m sure ‘twill change often. But the item my friend didn’t know? Quark. Because I was recently in Germany, I was able to tell her it’s a sort of German yoghurt that they use for everything from baking to breakfast. Man, those WA people are so behind the times. ;)

Simply the best coffee in the area and the only one that does consistent and fast takeaways. It’s no-nonsense with great friendly staff; it’s pretty small but the inside and outside seating are comfortable and not too cramped. I have not had any of the food, but they have a good-looking simple menu with an emphasis on vegetarian and gluten free type options. It’s a great local coffee spot.

A half-hidden gem, Grace makes a perfect squashy weekend coffee /brunch getaway. You can take shelter inside and wistfully eye the baked goods cornucopia next to the register while half paying attention to your dining partner, or you can sit on the sunny front bench and be distracted by the weather, the street art and the passers by. The venue, it’s surroundings, and its staff are all equally photogenic and quintessentially Fitzroy, minus the pretentiousness. Coffee here is up to standard, food is delicious if a little pricey, but the quirky pastries and baked goods and the general good natured flow of service makes Grace a stand out.

Delightful spot off Brunswick Street. It’s quirky and quaint, like your Nana’s house — if she was a hipster, and with less doilies. The crepes with lemon curd are to die for. Perfectly thin and an excellent portion, not too small, not too large… this would satisy Goldilocks(ummm, me) as it’s «just right.» Easy parking in the area, with a paid parking lot out back and a cute little porch. Nice coffees and staff who are eager to recommend their favourites and to make sure you’re well looked after. I’m adding this place to my regular haunts– so lovely.

This is a really nice cute little place in a backstreet! For years the building was a brothel or a massage parlour(not sure which, in fact not even sure the difference between the two) and then it may have been something else(even a residential house) for a while too. But now it is Grace and it is gorgeous. I had been meaning to go and try their hot chocolate as it is less than a minutes walk from the chess club I run. Anyway, I went in and got a takeaway hot chocolate which was really nice. As another reviewer said, the aesthetic must be commented on. Out the front there is just enough room for nice outdoor tables under the veranda — so you can sit outside with some shade. Inside was lovely too. What surprised me most was how small the place actually is — I thought it would be bigger. I was also surprised at how light it was inside — which was also really nice. I suppose knowing that it was once a brothel I had expected it to be bigger and darker inside for some reason.(never been to one so I wouldnt know :)) Anyway, the place is just gorgeous and I will certainly be going back!

Really simple menu where they make sure every dish is done to perfection. Smaller serves, cheaper prices, but definitely worth it. Can’t write a review on this place without commenting on the aesthetic. The place has so much charm and style. I’ve never seen a back street café suit an area better than this, and it feels like it’s always been there. Very well done.

I’m feeling lucky to know one of the co-owners of this place because it meant tonight I got to trial out«yoghurt in a jar». Yoghurt, aside from being a hard word to spell, with stuff is generally pretty amazing. More amazing when you know that it’s been freshly made on a daily basis. I’m also part of that(American?) scene that appreciates things being in jars — from hot drinks to food; so another win. The only reason why this isn’t five stars is, it still pains me how expensive things cost in Melbourne in general — and Grace just so happens to be one of the first places I’ve visited since my return. But, really, it’s a cool space that has crates. Go check it out!
