This pub and I have a long history, only due to the fact that I used to live around the corner from it. Mind you, despite living in a real close proximity to the place didn’t mean that I was a regular — in fact I hardly ever stepped foot in through the doors(and even if I did I really can’t remember what it was like). If anything my flatmate and I would only ever come here to buy a carton of beer from the drive thru. Anyway, on my last trip to Adelaide I decided to return(actually I had done a couple of times before that, but this time was to actually have a meal). First of all it is actually two pubs in the same building. On the eastern side is a traditional English pub with a sports bar, which on the western side is the gaming lounge and the bistro. The bistro actually has the really cool beer garden. However my enjoyment of this place pretty much ends there. I have to say that the meal that I ended up having was disguisting. The schnitzel was okay, but the chips were undercooked, and don’t even let me get started on the salad. It’s not a bad place for a beer, but I would go elsewhere for a feed.

Wow… This place is so different. The bathroom is tiny and the sink is in the bedroom. Earliest checkout is 9:30am. doesn’t help when my hospital appointment is an hour away at 9:30am. They have offered for the duty manager to meet me at 8:30 Booked on and it never said anything about a $ 200 cash deposit for the key or Credit card details. They will not take debit card. What if I have no extra cash?! I’d be without a bed tonight… No front desk. You have to goto the cashier in the pokie room to check in? What if you have children with you? I only booked her because my normal hotel was booked. I will NEVER book here again. Even if it’s super cheap

Rat and Parrot. Meals were average, and they got everything muddled up. We had 6 people and everyone’s meals came out 10mins apart. Service was average. There are better pubs in Adelaide.

The Findon Hotel is another surprisingly really nice suburban pub which has injected a lot of money into itself and created a good reputation for itself amongst other Adelaide hotels. Comprising of the Rat n Parrot British Pub and the Topaz Bar, The Findon has a lot to offer for a range of different customers and menu needs. They run karaōke every Friday in the British Pub and offer a ‘kids eat free’ discount on Tuesday nights in the Topaz Bar, which is great incentive for parents to give the cooking a miss for a night. The highlight though by far is the layout of the topaz bar which has the coolest outdoor area ever. The whole area is covered in grass and is very park like with wooden furniture scattered amongst the greenery. The menu is also really good value with around $ 20.00 for a steak that was surely bigger than the 200 grams advertised. The cuisine in the British Pub is also quintessentially British(go figure) and tastes great even though it will add centimetres to your waistline from all the gravy and mashed potato.
