Green Peppercorn

Good authentic Thai food, nice décor and brings me back to Thailand!
Ordered the Lao papaya salad but bit too hot for me. Overall a lovely place to dine.

What we ate: Ox Tongue, Chicken Pad Thai, Soft Shell Crab, Beef Curry (forgot the original name) w/​Sticky Rice in the side. We all personally had our own mixed fruit drinks as well. Plus for dessert, we has the giant smashed pavlova and the coconut sticky rice and mango.
Yes, this is what we (4 people) had for lunch but it was for a special occasion as it was my friends birthday. Also, if you tell the staff they will come around and sing to you and also bang a gong. Saying that, customer service here is great and all the staff are really friendly and easy to get along with.
All the dishes provided here are always so tasty and a must go if you love and enjoy Thai cuisine. I for one, found myself really enjoying the curry even though I usually don’t like Thai curry from previous experience. The fruit shakes are amazing but quite pricey since they’re $ 6.50 each. I recommend a mix of lychee & custard apple if you enjoy a sweeter fruity drink like me.
I haven’t tried many of the desserts offered here except a few but one I always grab with my mates is the smashed pavlova. It’s amazing, and it’s HUGE.
Overall, Green Peppercorn is a great Thai restaurant in the western suburbs of Sydney. Also, there are plenty of street parking and it’s right next to Fairfield Station.

Awesome Thai food! Come early and get your name on the queue on a weekend. This place is busy!
The food here is very flavourful, colourful and tasty. I love the tuk tuk (Thailands taxi) that’s inside by the cashier. It gives it more of a Thailand feel to it since they had to import it over. The restaurant is pretty big and full of families.
Now on to the food! I had the seafood pad thai — the portions were pretty big! There was a decent amount of seafood in it, flavours could’ve been a little more authentic (comparing it to Thailand) meaning more spices and less tomato sauce for flavouring. Second was the duck red curry — although I did not eat the duck, the curry flavour was delicious. Very coconutty and had lots of veggies for me to eat! Third, we ordered the calamari — for the price of $ 17.90, I expected a little more than 7 pieces of calamari. The last dish that came out was the banana flower salad — nice and light, something very different. It was pretty damn good!
The best part of all. DESSERT! The pandan crème brûlée tasted exactly what it was suppose to taste like. The two little waffle cones on it gave it a little crunch. BUT my favourite would be the dough fritters with Pandan sauce & coconut ice cream. The icecream alone is SO GOOD! I would literally come here just for it. Overall the combination of the hot fritters, cold icecream dipped into the pandan sauce was delicious.
If you want a nice date spot, birthday gathering or just a catch up this would be a good go to. OR You could literally come here just for dessert! They have large dessert portions perfect for two ;)

Location… well, I mean, it’s in Fairfield but we can’t really hold that against them.

I originally thought this place was over hype but my dining experience exceeded my initial expectation. Service was great, food was even better and dessert pretty much pushed this rating to 5 stars. They have a private room held for events which is ideal for birthday dinners. The location is easy to find as it’s located right next to fairfield train station. If you ever crave for Thai food, green peppercorn won’t fail to disappoint!

When you’re an out of towner – out of country even– and your local host chooses this as the first place to take you, it’s got to be good.
While we waited for the fourth member of our party, we waited outside on the sidewalk. There’s a window into their kitchen from the outside, and you can watch some of the prep work while you wait. On the wall there are copies of magazine articles that they were featured in that highlighted what were must-​orders, which was super helpful since Unilocal isn’t very popular or useful in Australia.
The interior is almost like an eclectic hotel lobby with hip features like hanging birdcages, contrasted with traditional Thai Buddhist statues.
We were seated even though we were still waiting on one party member. We ordered five dishes and two desserts for the four of us. The magazine articles outside recommended the Laotian sausages, so we got an order of those, some chicken satay, tom yum soup, pad see ew, and duck red curry. The chicken satay were bomb, we should’ve gotten two orders. The sausages were ok, not as good as the satay, but full of spices and lemon grass. What I liked the most was the Pad See Ew. It is still the best Pad See Ew I’ve had. The ones at home are just like Chinese chow fun, but the one at Green Peppercorn was sweeter, and I will always remember that.
We finished off with an order of pandan crème brûlée and some deep fried ice cream. Overall, it was great place with a hip atmosphere to catch up with old friends over delicious food.

Want good thai food? Stop by here! This place is always super packed and for good reason too!
I love my thai food so when some friends told me about this place, it was time to have a night out. We arrived (group of 7, 2 young kids) and they promptly gave us a table. Slightly squished up but I’ll let that slide. The ambience and décor is awesome, has a real modern and rustic feel to the place. Most importantly, the place looks clean! Makes me enjoy my meal more! The service was good, nothing outstanding but nothing disappointing either.
But you want to know about the food. Well, it was good. Like this is yum good. The deep fried fish was a good portion, the snapper was quite large. And nothing makes you feel happier then getting your money’s worth! The Fried Pineapple Rice was delicious and the curries are good too.
The standout though? The desserts. Those things are probably not that healthy but heck, so so tasty. The Deep Fried Dough was absolutely delicious and they do a mean Deep Fried Ice Cream as well.
Only downside is that it’s on the more pricey end. But a meal here every now and then is definitely affordable! Overall, I’d suggest you to check this place out!

Came here with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the food, the restaurant itself was weirdly designed, it was mixed with a bar, hotel of some sort and then itself the restaurant. The atmosphere was alright I suppose. Giving this a 4 star just because I believe they could have better placed themselves elsewhere.
But overall, great restaurant!

So much love for this place, always so packed! Love the pad see ew, definitely one of my all time favorite places to go to!

Seriously awesome food! These guys have got it right! Nicely decored and good use of space, they have a big main area and also a private functions area too. No reservations for weekends so if you come in at peak hour for lunch or dinner, expect to wait up to an hour or so unless you come early!
red duck curry, glass noodle seafood salad, green papaya Laos style, pad Thai chicken and marinated beef jerky are my favorites!
They have their infamous fried ice cream but since I’m gluten free, their green tea crème brûlée is awesome!!!
I’ve known and been to these guys ever since they’ve launched and the food remains fantastic!

My friends an I have come here a few times for dinner, and let me tell you it’s one of the best thai places in the Fairfield area, as soon as you walk in it is beautifully decorated with lights, ornamental birdcages hanging off the ceiling, has a Tuk Tuk next to the bar!!!
It is a very popular restaurant to go to, so it’s best to call up and make a reservation, we made the mistake of not having one and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. It’s just that popular.
Now as for the food. My gosh it is soooo good, and relatively cheap.
My friends and I have two entrees, and 4 Mains (pad thai, fried rice and mussaman beef and thai red curry) between the three of us, the food was a of decent size as well. Also had drinks (fizzy drinks) and it was well under $ 100.
Cheap eats can’t beat that.
The only down sides are, if you haven’t made a reservation there is a bit of wait time, and trying to find a park around there can sometimes become a mission in its self.
Over all it’s one of my fav eats!!!

Who would ever think that Fairfield would get a restaurant that would be at home in the best eat strips.
The cocktails are worthy of a high class cocktail bar. You could spend a night nibbling and tasting the best cocktails around.
The food is amazing from the traditional papaya salad, bettel leaf wrap to the modern takes of good Laos food.

A beautiful little restaurant in Fairfield. The food was incredible. The flower salad is a must and the desserts are to die for.
I agree with the other reviews, the service is lacking. There is an abundance of staff but they all seem to moving around and not doing much at all.
The reason for my 3 star rating is that two of their specialities were unavailable on the night. We wanted to try their duck eggs and pork belly but they they were unavailable on a busy Thursday night.
Their also was heaps of fruit flies buzzing around which were very annoying while your trying to devour your meal.
Defiantly give it a try if your in the area

The restaurant is in the Fairfield Hotel, don’t let this put you off.
It is beautifully decorated and is quite separate from the hotel. The Kitchen is situated so that you can see food being prepared through a window outside. It is reassuring to see such a clean kitchen and fun to see how the food is prepared .
The menu is extensive and full of dishes from Thailand and Laos.
This place is popular — we tried to book but they don’t take bookings so we turned up early for dinner on a Sunday (5.30pm) and there was already about 20 people waiting. We were seated pretty quickly and then the restaurant was packed within 10 minutes
The service was great– not pushy and the waiters were happy to explain any of the dishes. Our waiters were quick to ask whether we needed anything.
We shared dishes which was fun and also allowed us to taste more items.
Every dish was beautifully presented and I would say that most were above average for this type of cuisine

Prawn salad — 3 giant prawns with a papaya salad were a bit tough but still delicious

After dinner we were shown the dessert menu — it looked so good that we just had to try some. There is a very extensive dessert menu with traditional items and some Aussie favourites such as brownies — lucky we were all feeling like pigs and so we ordered 2 to share
dessert
fried ice cream — this is more like a triangle of icecream in a filo pastry served with caramel sauce and muesli. I wasn’t fussed but others loved it.
banana fritters — we asked for condensed milk on the side just like they serve in Thailand and they were delicious — very crispy and served with coconut icecream.
both were delicious. I did think $ 15 for the fried ice cream was a bit dear but we were all happy with what we had.

The food is really good. The soft shell crab and BBQ chicken are a must try. However, the service is lacking. Our order was not properly taken twice, once with our drinks and a second time with desserts. We had to reorder after waiting 30 min just for dessert.
