Beautiful trendy café right near Essendon station with a great menu. Quite a bit noisy though, and very small. It was busy and packed when I went midweek for brunch. The corn fritters are marvelous and stacked up with flavour. They include smoked salmon, avocado, kale and a 62 degree egg! Their juices are also delicious. They have great combinations– the juice I had contained ginger, pineapple and berries. I ordered a hash brown too because I was randomly craving one. It was good! I’m planning on visiting st Rose again soon — I can’t wait to try out the rest of the menu!

You know a café is great when you have a dream about it the following night. And if you haven’t caught on yet, that’s exactly what happened to me. A friend was down for the night from Brisbane and asked if I could take her out for brekkie at ‘a cool Melbourne café’. I had a whole of 1.5hrs to pick her up from the airport, find a café, eat, and return her for a work meeting… Talk about pressure. I jumped on Unilocal, and found St Rose. What a winner! The décor is so bright and fresh that you can’t help but feel great. We got a small two-person table to ourselves, however we would have been very happy to eat at the ‘communal’ table since it looked surprisingly comfortable. After drinking a seriously great coffee, we ordered — I got the avo smash and Kristen tried the St Rose version of a big breakfast. Everything came out so beautifully presented that we were scared to eat for fear of ruining a masterpiece. If you like perfectly ripe avocado, perfectly poached eggs and multigrain with the perfect amount of grain in it(I do, I do… Pick me!) then you’ve just stepped through the gates of café heaven. We waited nearly no time at all, but since we were so busy raving about how awesome everything was, I still got my friend back to her meeting a little bit late. Totally worth it, and I cannot wait to go back to St Rose to eat everything on the menu!

I knew St Rose was going to be good from the moment I received the post card in my letter box announcing their upcoming opening! I wasn’t at all disappointed when I visited in their first week. The coffee is delicious and so is the food. I second LG on the atmosphere of St Rose– a gorgeous space that feels airy and inviting. The staff are all lovely and accommodating. St Rose is a must for a coffee on the go as you run to your public transport of choice or for a yummy food stop while your shopping on a lazy weekend.

What a find! Located opposite Essendon Station this trendy and bright café certainly wins my vote for best newcomer ATOMOSPHERE beautiful space with a light bright yet warm feel. Your spirits lift the moment you enter. The use of light wood features against the white brick walls works well. Seating is comfortable and the team accommodated prams and families very well indeed SERVICE The service was flawless. Hats off to the team! Professional, fast with time to engage with every customer. Good vibe and culture amongst the staff FOODANDDRINKS This is where St Rose lifts your spirits further. Homely with a trendy twist. The coffee is outstanding and cannot be faulted. Smoothies are served in a milk bottle. We had the Brekkie Burger. Egg bacon and spinach served in a crisp Brioche roll placed in a wicker basket and a hash brown slipped into the basket for your Carb load. Very very tasty and certainly popular on every table. The other dish we tried was the crushed avocado with Fetta lemon and chervil served in seeded bread. Divinely refreshing ROUNDUP This place is a gem. Whilst super busy and popular the staff do not make you feel rushed or unwelcome as in most busy establishments. This is most certainly a place that will cheer you up and want you coming back for more.
