Feeling a bit peckish after dinner. «I know a place, an American Diner, do you want to go?» asked my husband. Intrigued, I agreed. This place stands out with its neon sign advertising its crêpe cones. Then as I stepped in, I was overwhelmed by the retro décor, neon lights and the red vinyl booths. A lady uniformed in pink vintage shirtdress complete with hat that fits with the whole theme greeted us, «Is this your first time here?» Popcorn is served complimentary on arrival. We had the Big Bopper Sundae, a rich chocolate brownie covered with Toffee, Vanilla and Peanut Butter ice cream, with caramel fudge, peanut butter sauce, toasted almond flakes, Snickers chunks, whipped cream and cherry on top. It was sickly sweet, definitely not for the faint hearted just like the warning on their menu. We also had the Lemon and Sugar Crêpe, and it was like eating a Lemon Tart, tangy and delicious but on a crêpe, if that makes sense. To complete the whole experience we had to have some thickshake. We had the Chocolate Mudslide, 1950s style, complete with whipped cream and cherry on top! Overall it was a fun experience. I would come back again and try their savoury crêpe next time.

I am in love with this place. Last night I had my third visit there. This place is adorable! I have never seen such a beautiful restraunt walking in feels like your walking into the 50’s and the smell of crepes get you immediately. You get a basket of free popcorn to start with. The waiters are both very nice and provide amazing surface. I always get the haloumi crêpe. When I first went there I had never eaten a crêpe and usually am not too keen on crepes but these crepes omg! Its impossible not to like them. The crepes are wrapped up into cones and have melted cheese as the outer layer so you get the sweet but salty taste which is actually amazing. They are cooked to perfection and just so yummy. I have had the waffles there which are also amazing but I only got them once because the crepes are feeling and was a bit too full for full plate of waffles but they are delicious and would get them of I was only going to desert. Now I get a scoop of chocolate and strawberry icecream. They come in a beautiful glass bowl. I dont know where the ice cream comes from wether they make it or get it from somewhere but it is amazing smooth tasty and its not overly sweet which I like. I honestly could rave on for hours about this place it is my favorite place and if I go there I get excited and dont sleep the night before. Your definitely missing out on so much if you jav never tried this place

Having lived up the road from this for quite a few years I never went in. It was always on the must do list but it wasn’t until last week that I got dragged in here for crepes because the boyfie had a craving. They open at 6pm every night. So we got there about 5.30 and loitered like a couple of hoodies waiting for a fix. I may have dragged him off to the CPS to look at kittens while we waited for it to open to pass time because I felt a bit… awkward hanging around. We came back just as the lady dressed up with the hairdo and head scarf finished putting tables outside and the sign saying they were open. Wonderful! In we went and slid straight into the booth at the back. Just a pro-tip here, they have renovated the inside so that it seats more people now instead of less. I do love the booths. But then I’ve always had a soft spot for booths, they give you that intimate feel even though you’re in a public place. Anyway, we got a small popcorn tray as we perused the menu for what we wanted to eat. My boyfie’s eyes lit up when he noticed that there was a meat, with meat and extra meat crêpe. And I thought I’d try the chilli one. I couldn’t finish mine, it was that full of yummy stuffings — neither could my partner. But never fear, they offer you a cute lil box for you to take your left overs away with! WIN!

Very nice cosy retro atmosphere, service, and tasty product. A little on the pricey side though I would say

Where to begin? Don’t be fooled by it’s size, the store has a charming throwback feel that takes you back in time to a decade where the sodas bubbled away and the records spun you over to the dance floor. The servers are neatly dressed in retro 50’s style diner outfits and are some of the most accommodating and polite people I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. The food is timely and absolutely stunning. I’ve returned twice to this establishment for two items in particular: Pizza crêpe and milkshake. I order the spicy crêpe and the maple milkshake. Cooked to perfection, the chefs give you a delightfully crispy and fluffy crêpe with the pizza trimmings atop and it does not disappoint. The milkshakes are American style; thick with icecream and packed with creamy flavors. Anyone planning a visit to this place should definitely take a few friends and share around the delights because there is a great variety and this place certainly deserves to have it’s name in neon lights.

The Doughbox Diner was always somewhere I’d drop into on my walk home from a King St pub late at night. The 50’s style décor and neon lights will drag you in and the Nutella crêpes will have you coming back for more. They’re always pretty busy but you won’t have to wait too long to sample something delicious. The only downfall is that they don’t open anywhere near early enough! So many times I’ve wanted a lunchtime crêpe but they don’t open until 5. But it’s worth sacrificing an afternoon snack for a late night treat for sure.

I’ve walked by this place several times and always wanted to go… not sure what took me so long but I finally made it. Very cool concept, you get the 50’s American diner vibe with sweet or savoury crepes, along with shakes/desserts. When you sit down they give you a small basket of popcorn. Cool. I ordered the Avocado Bite as the menu says it’s the #1 best seller. Eh. It was good, not great… and I was still hungry afterwards. But that’s just me. I’d be keen to try the other crepes but I’m in no rush.

Found this place on Unilocal! And just another reason why I love Unilocal :-) Doughbox Diner transports you back to the 1950s in style. The entire environment is true to the era, including the waitress dress in style. We went her for desserts which was a Sundae and Waffles.

What about you Peggy Sue? I’ll have a Cheezy Chorizo Crêpe cone with Extra Halloumi and Bacon and an $ 8 Shake. How do you want that Shake– Martin and Lewis, or Amos and Andy? Martin and Lewis.* Pulp Fiction has the $ 5 Shake, and Doughbox Diner has one upped the legendary epic thick milk beverage with a Shake the likes of which hasn’t been seen since 1955. I had a double Swiss Chocolate with Whipped cream, Sprinkles Sprinkles Sprinkles! and a Cherry on top! Sure, it’s probably enough to fuel a small community of people for a week in terms of kilojoules, but heck it just has to be done. Just as the Germans have a beer you can eat as a meal in itself, think on it as brain food, and all that calcium to boot! If that isnt enough dairy to future proof you against Osteoporosis, there’s the Crêpe cones. I had Chorizo and Cheese with extra cheese and Bacon. Looking down the barrel of that big Ol’ pile of pork and cheese just made me so happy, I almost needed an adrenalin shot, just like Mia Wallace. This place gets quite busy so get there early. I’ve heard it is nigh on impossible on nights where there are shows at the Enmore, but give it a swingin’ whirl. It’s completely worth any wait you may experience. The 50s Décor and and the booth seats are so cute, as are the staff who are dressed in 50s diner outfits. Jack Rabbit Slims eat your heart out! *(I had actually had an Amos and Andy, which apparently is Chocolate)

A little bit small on the inside, this is a diner in the 50s style of the word. We managed to get into this just before a show at the enmore theatre — very closeby. Not offering a full menu like diners of old, they focus on crepes only, and every kind of filling I can imagine. Not having tried savoury crepes before, I tried them out and was very satisfied. The service is friendly and while not extraordinarily cheap, its filling and quick to serve.

I wish they were open during lunch hours on weekdays :(Alas, I’ll have to stay back after work if I want some yummy crêpe-y goodness. They serve REALLYYUMMY handheld crepes. The crepes are a bit crispier — though not really CRISPY, they’re crispier that the soft-style crepes, if you know what I mean. I’ve tried both savory and sweet ones and I like them both!(My faves are seduction(sweet) and inferno(savory).) The décor is really cute, done in vintage style. The lady who does the crepes is dressed up too and fits right in. The people who work there are friendly. Besides crepes, they have waffles, shakes, gelato, and have started offering pizza(gotta try that one of these days.)

A great spot for a quick dinner or to stop in for dessert after dinner somewhere else. The savoury crepes are all delicious, hand held and made before your eyes. The pizzas are delicious with a nice crispy base. If you’re super hungry you can follow it up with something sweet or you can just drop in after dinner somewhere else for some desert. The sweet crepes are delicious and also handheld, made fresh before your eyes. The Belgian waffles are made fresh and are amazing. if you’re not too hungry then a scoop or two of gelato from the 22 different flavours is the go.

A must visit when you’re in Enmore next — if you love sweet and savoury things, you can’t go past their handheld crepes — and you’ve got so many options to choose from. If crepes aren’t your thing, they also have a wide selection of Gelato, and even waffles. They’re not kidding when they say hand held crepes are addictive!
