I like the elsternwick for the quiz nights. It’s a very ‘pub’ pub and has a fairly big pokies and betting focus. But my advice would be maybe eat before. And drink beer not wine. The food is often below pub standard as it can be so inconsistent. Sometimes the wedges aren’t really even cooked properly and the parmas are pretty uninspiring. Sometime burnt. Each week the burgers look and taste different so I’m always very nervous ordering. That being said, on a good day the food can be pretty tasty it’s just luck of the draw. The tap beers are also pretty stock standard with coopers pale being the stand out highlight. I am also very scared when ordering a red wine as it has almost always been open for god knows how long and there are one or two ppl behind the bar who want to challenge you on your re-pour opinion. But generally the staff are pretty good. Anyway if you’re in to betting in the dogs and drinking Carlton check this place out. Maybe I’m too spoilt on the north side.

Food is pretty decent, pricing is fairly standard. Good bar with enough staff that there isn’t much of a wait, similarly the food arrives quite promptly in the bar area. Nice booths off to one side which are great for sitting around with a few mates, while the stage on the other side of the bar get pretty rowdy, but also offers good views of primetime sport. They don’t air any boxing, bit disappointing, missed the Mayweather fight against Alvarez today accordingly.

Nice place to go watch the footy on a Saturday night. Especially when there’s $ 6 pints of carlton to keep you going. It is a nice crowd, me and my mate got chatting to a couple of nice people there: a local and a guy from Adelaide. Overall nice experience. I’ll be coming back here often I think.

Great atmosphere and they even let us put the NRL on the TV’s outside. And the food was better than I was expecting, they catered to my dietary restrictions and all done with smiles

Y’know, for a joint which partly supports itself by pokies, the Wick ain’t half bad. They do a pretty good parma, and they have pretty good comfy booths. Sure, you’re not going to travel across town to go there, but it’s a damn solid local. Admittedly, it does have pokies, but even there they’ve got a little class. There’s two bars, and then there’s the pokies room, and unless you’re going from the dining room and bar to the serious drinking bar, you wouldn’t even know they were there.
