I have to say I never thought I would be attracted to an over-sized portrait of a cow. Yep, still even when I say, I surprise myself. Well, now one lives in my home. The Michael Commerford Gallery is home to three or so artists work, but the artist who created my cow is known as Vayu. Vayu is also Michael Commerford. Confusing right?! Not really, but ask Michael to tell you the story if you’re ever in there, he is most welcoming. Anyway, Michael was once a framer but decided one day to try his hand at sketching so he took himself off to the zoo and captured the curious faces of lions, zebras and monkeys, which led him on to birds and cows. There is something about his style which captures the expressions of animals in a familiar way, yet there is so much depth to their faces you can’t help but wonder what they are thinking. Vayu himself has a stab at this and will ink a little thought at the bottom of the painting. My cow says ‘I’m Mad’. Artwork is POA.
