This is a nice place. I’ve been here a couple of times and it gets better and better. Well fitted out. Good use of space. Nice tapas style menu. Superior food. Well thought out and presented. Reasonable wine list. Good for locals and good for blow ins. Service was good too. I went here before the footy final the other night and it was excellent. I’m definitely returning.

Great little bar with some good tap beer choices. My new go-to after a day(or night) at the MCG watching footy… although thankfully the rest of the clientele isn’t all footy-heads, but a good mix of locals and younger groups there for a chat /catch ups in a chilled place conducive to conversation.

I visited Tippler & Co. during Good Beer Week for their event featuring five food courses paired with five beers. Meat dishes are their strong point, which they were showcasing. But they also looked after me as a vegetarian. My highlights were the vegetarian gnocchi & the chocolate brownie. Apparently the gnocchi is a vegetarian favourite at Tippler. The texture is great, there’s a bit of sweetness from the veg and added flavours from the soft cheese. As for the brownie, OMG yes! So rich and amazing paired with the porter from the Napoleon brewery. The regular tap list isn’t massive, but it has some decent craft beer standards. The staff were all friendly as well. Tippler is a good local spot for East Melbournians.

The husband and I wandered up Bridge Road and ventured off of our 3121 Island(only just to East Melbs) on a balmy Saturday evening to try out Tippler & Co. It had been on my hit list for ages and I am so glad that we finally paid them a visit. The place is fairly small with a lounge area that looked like it would be super cosy in winter and a bar area with high tables and stools and a big open window with views out towards the MCG. Table service whenever you sit makes it a winner already. The menu is very much geared towards sharing which is great as that is what I love to do. So keeping with that theme we shared an alcoholic ginger beer to start. Could also be because the husband had a bit of a hangover from a work team building session the day before. But I digress… Then we ordered a couple of dishes from the«smaller» section of the menu: patatas bravas & roasted cauliflower salad. Both were delicious and on the generous size of «smaller»!! The aioli and capsicum sauce on the crispy potatoes was yummy and the roast cauliflower salad, with cous cous, raisins, green beans, a pile of fresh herbs and a tahini yogurt dressing also hit the spot. We didn’t feel like we needed too much more food so ordered the Mac’n’cheese from the«larger» section. It came with crispy bacon bits, broccoli and the crunchy crumb topping. It was rich and decadent, just like a good Mac’n’cheese should be. We were too full to try dessert, but will definitely be back to sample their sweet wares and more of the tapas menu! There is a small wine list by the glass and some really interesting sounding cocktails that I will also be back to try — $ 10 before 7pm too! Bargain. Service was friendly and gave good guidance as to how much food to order which I always appreciate. And they were spot on. All in all a great little spot, which I think will become one of our regular haunts as it is quite close to our new place in 3121 that we move into super soon. Happy days!

Im pretty sure this venue is kinda new but don’t quote me on this. This venue had been carved out what im guessing used to be someones apartment and consequently it has a cool vibe to it with lots of hidden corners. The drinks are reasonably priced and the team all seem very nice. I have been there a few times now and had mix of different drinks from beers to cocktails and each time they have executed them with precision. I have yet to try to food so will let you all know my findings once it do which im sure wont be far away(i do like a friday beverage). The only concern that i have with this venue is that they are not quite ready to handle big crowds on footy nights. I dropped in with some work people on a friday night before a big game at the MCG and you could tell they were definately under the pump with a few big groups and function upstairs. Give them time however and they will get used to the flow of the football crowd and how to deal with them. Rest assured this venue does not attract the footy yahoo’s but a bit more a refined mixed crowd which is nice otherwise like most bars around the MCG on footy nights it would turn into a brothel.
