The Kitchen Bench is a hive of activity. When I was last at DFO I got a chance to go in and get a coffee at this place. Everything looked promising from the outset, the tables were packed, there was a line at the counter and there was a couple of people working furiously in the sandwich bar section.
I got to the counter and ordered my drink and was told that there would be a five-​minute wait. This was cool, I was pretty sure that this was universal standard in turnaround times for cafés. So as I waited I went over and watched the guys at the sandwich bar do their thing and saw that everything from the salad to the meat looked fresh. Across the tables people were eating coffees and cakes and enjoying their break from the chaos that is the DFO weekend rush.
Finally my coffee was up and it was pretty good. There wasn’t anything standout about it but it was made the way I ordered it. Maybe nex time I’ll try the food if I can get a table.
