You always remember where you were when the clock ticked over from 1999 to 2000 — I was here with my friends watching the world transition to the new millennium… Without a doubt Dudley Page Reserve offers one of the best views in Sydney to watch the fireworks… or to visit on a first date for an impressive romantic view… The park itself is okay…, the grass a bit sparse and there’s not really too much to do… but come night– time when the city lights take over the sky-line and you will be greeted with a gorgeous view which will remind you how wonderful Sydney truly is. A great place to visit to impress people… I recommend picnic blankets, some yummy food and good company… **Just a tip if you are heading here for New Years avoid driving as you will spend most of the night stuck in traffic trying to head home… it will be much quicker to walk… promise***

This park in Dover Heights offers some of the best view of Sydney Harbour from an easy to find location. It’s hard to find such vast views of the harbour without entering private property, or climbing to the foreshore through a hard to reach park. Once you’re here, you’ll immediately say to yourself ‘What a great place to watch the fireworks’, and everyone else who knows of this park says the same thing. So expect the location to be incredibly busy on that infamous day in December. Although, you may be less inclined if I mention most of the people here on that night are under 18 years old, and nearly all of will be totally wasted. A great place to take the dogs for a run, and it’s even got a small swing and jungle gym set for the kids to play on while you watch the world go by. Perfect for a relaxing weekend stroll to take in the view of our beautiful city.

This park offers one of the best views of Sydney and it’s absolutely free. Growing up my sister and I used to take cardboard boxes to this park and spend hours sliding down the steep grassy hills in this park. If sliding down hills is not your thing, this public park also offers a spectacular view across Sydney with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge figuring strongly. This place is popular with tour buses and come New Years Eve it’s one of the most popular spots to watch the fireworks. I recommend packing a picnic and heading here if you are entertaining tourists it’s a great spot and they won’t be disappointed. Maybe also bring some cardboard boxes, just incase.
