Goat Pie Guy

If you’re a regular to any of the markets around town, chances are you’ve met Mick and Meg, the owners of The Goat Pie Guy. And, until a few weeks ago, the markets were the only place to get your hit of their deliciously tender goat pieces in combinations like the Himalayan, the Deluxe or the Grecian. Not any more, kids!
They’ve gone and opened a café in Degaon, and while it is admittedly, a little bit of a drive, it’s also conveniently close to Sandgate meaning it’s in the prime position for a quick stop to pick up a few take-​away pies (and coffee. They’re pouring Venezziano beans) and continue on to the Sandgate pier to consume with a view.
As well as the range of pies, there’s standard café fare like turkish bread sandwiches and avocado on toast. Personally I’m excited for talk of menu items like a goat lasagne. There’s plenty of places to get a stock-​standard sanga, let’s all be a little adventurous in our ordering!
The café itself is simple in it’s layout and there’s a few tables outside to dine from.
Pro Tip: If it’s available when you stop in, order the Indonesian goat pie; Tender slow cooked goat meat in a traditional rendang curry with coconut milk, lemongrass, kaffir lime and toasted coconut (topping — desiccated coconut)
