Darlinghurst’s skateboard emporium 99 Degrees certainly presents skateboards as art. The location can be a little difficult to find as it is up a stairwell at the corner of Crown and Goulburn Streets, but skateboarders who find their way up the stairs will not be disappointed. On entry the walls are lined with vast selection of the latest Skater shoes from Vans, Fallen, Emerica, Nike, Gravis, Cons, Supra and Dekline. The walls also feature the coolest range of skateboard designs I have seen yet. On entering the main section of the shop clothing, hats, sunglasses and accessories line the walls beneath an inflatable skull and crossbones and the Chinese lucky cat adds a touch of cuteness. 99 Degrees services the serious skater offering an extensive range of classic to funky boards and the smaller cruiser boards. I have a tendency to fall off skateboards and then crash into things so I don’t think I will be riding one anytime soon. But after visiting 99 Degrees, I might buy a board to hang on my wall, I think maybe a yellow one with a big purple eye across it or one featuring a cartoon image of Big Ben.
