As other reviewers have noted, I will not under any circumstances return to this establishment. The bouncers were incredibly rude and unprofessional. Even though I was well dressed and clearly sober, the bouncer asked me a series of personal questions. When I declined to answer, politely saying that I had a right to privacy, he said that I was being argumentative and was barred from entry. This is an abuse of power and I would highly recommend voting with your dollars and staying clear of helm.

Helm. Helm. Helm! I have been here many many times! Being very close to my work it’s great to drop in for a drink after work :) My suggestion, is to get your self a gold card for Helm bar — it’s awesome. You get loads of great bonuses like all day every day happy hour. All beer, wine etc are all happy hour prices all the time which makes it a cheaper night! The food there is nice too but I usually have pizza whilst having a couple of drinks. My only critic about helm is I wish they kept the beer garden area open longer! Particularly in summer, it’s so beautiful down there and I always feel they close the area waaaay to early. That’s my only criticism about the place It’s right on Darling Harbour looking right over the harbour and from the second floor it is beautiful. Great for Sunday afternoon beers!

I had a very unpleasant dinner experience at Helm Bar about a week ago. Helm Bar has a really rude staff. Both the bartender and one of the waiters spoke very rudely to us. For example, I asked the bartender which of the beers on tap he would recommend. He rolled his eyes and me and was like«uh idk.what.» I explained that we didn’t have those beers in America, so I didn’t know which one I should get. He then unenthusiastically told me which was his favorite, as if it was some huuuge pain to tell me that. The way he said it was as if I was pulling his teeth. The food was sub-par. I got the Chicken Schnitzel, which was just very lackluster. The ground was teeming with ants. I understand that we were sitting in the outdoors area. But tons of restaurants have outdoor seating, and none of them have that many ants around. There were so many ants because there were bits of food all over the ground that they never bothered to clean up. The only good thing about Helm Bar was the location. It is right in Darling Harbour and has outdoor seating.

Underhelmed! There’s been two recent visits to the Helm, by yours truly, as work is situated nearby. First was a treasure hunt thingy which finished at the Helm — for drinks and nibbles. Standard wedges, nothing special, and below average beer pours. The second stop was a team lunch for the $ 10 steak. As previous reviewers have noted you can’t be too picky with a $ 10 steak, but seriously when two people out of a table of 12 want to send it back perhaps it’s time to rethink the idea. Helm also don’t seem too fussed about service and atmosphere… I’m thinking the campaign flyer reads something like«You get it when you get it!» and«Atmosphere? Provide your own!» and«We pour our beers, like no one else does!» as in, wrongly. Final gripe, dem pesky flying beer thieves. Yup, bar flies… They got them in spades! I have had decent experiences at the Helm in the past but the most recent have been memorable for all the wrong reasons. Hence the 2.

Got taken here on a project team celebration lunch. A free lunch is always a good thing. The main reason this was selected as the venue was that Tuesday is $ 10 steak day. A free lunch is good. A free steak is even better. They handled the big group well, there were about 40 of us all up. No problems at all. Food arrived quickly. It’s hard to find a place that can handle big groups well so thumbs up there. The problem of course was that the $ 10 steak was a $ 10 steak. Certainly not the tenderest I have ever had. Adequate is the word I would use. And, like most places that claim to be able to cook a steak, they have no idea what rare means. Hint — it doesn’t mean very slightly pink in the middle. It should be nicely red. I usually ask for blue in the hope of getting something close to rare but I wasn’t sure they would cope with that. Still, it was a $ 10 steak, and even better, one I didn’t have to pay for so I really can’t complain.

Went there with friends last Friday for lunch. It took them almost an hour to serve us(6 people). Dishes we ordered were chicken schnitzel, chicken breast, fish and chip and caesar salad. Even though we were 6 I don’t think it takes that much time to prepare this type of dish. Additionally having waited for almost an hour the quality of the food was just average.

Absolutely unacceptable. The food service is a disgrace. We booked a table. Only to have it forgotten, we practically had to make up our own table until the manager come over. Ordering from the bar we were placed on two numbers. 50 minutes later we were served some of the meals not all. The steak was extremely over cooked for medium rare to medium with no pink at all. 10 minutes later two more meals were served with four orders still not arriving. Another 10 minutes and three arrived. We queried the missing meal. It was not on the receipt despite being paid for. However, we were not told this straight away. Speaking to the manager he came across uninterested and basically said it will come. Funnily enough it was the only order of steak cooked correctly. His excuse for the poor service was they had a big work function last night. The 12 of us have made the decision to never return even for our usual after work drinks. A complete disappointment

Great views, can be a bit overrun by tourists and the food is pretty good. Not my go to place, but a good place for beers on a sunny arvo.

Friendly staff, an awesome app, beautiful drinks and lovely views of Darling Harbour. There is little to complain about at Helm Bar. Im yet to try it out on a weeekend night though so will be interesting to see how busy it can get. Mid week its a little on the quiet side. Been there twice now but I will be back!

I have been here few times now. Nice place for Sunday afternoon to get a special price of jug of beer and jug of Pimms or for evening with rugby on. I ate here few times too and the pub food was always really good specially the seafood paella. Love they new app where you can share with your friends and get some points for free drinks. Will definitely come back soon!

Pretty decent bar at Darling Harbour. They have an array of drinks including jugs of Sangria and Pimms. Came here once for the Rugby World Cup Finals and it was packed. Pretty decent food, good atmosphere, decent sized TV screens. There is an outside area where you can sit and enjoy the sun.

This place has many(non-yelp) specials throughout the week, the most important one is the codeword special which happens on Thursday. When given the secret codeword to bar staff you get free stuff(drink + bar snack). The views here are also nice. Best time to go is around lunchtime, or in the afternoon where there is little crowds.

I go to Helm quite regularly, its relaxed vibe, great food and multiple big screens make it a great place to watch the footy. They play all the sports and even will put the sport you want on the TV closest to you if you ask. The food is great also, so if you want to go for a meal I reccommend the Seafood Pasta, although the Burgers are amazing also. I recommend Helm to people all the time, it’s just a good pub, afterwook drinks there on any night of the week are great, get down there!

Met an old friend here the other night for dinner and drinks — I really liked it! Right on Darling Harbour, good food, good wine. I had the octopus salad. Service was good. Winner!

I got invited to Helm Bar for a friend of mines birthday. Before the invitation i hadn’t even heard of Helm Bar. Nevertheless I knew it was on the wharf so I decided to head down to celebrate my friends birthday… It was a Sunday afternoon and absolutely packed! A really pumping vibe with lots of relaxed cool people. I really loved it. It had a great view and was a nice place to chill and spend time with friends… We ordered a few carafes which cost $ 35 — we had Sangria and a Pimms ginger beer mix… it was really great to sit around, sip on something sweet and watch the sun go down… I’d definitely head there again — they had food and a proper place to eat which we didn’t get to try, but i would be keen to visit next time I’m there… A fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon /early eve. Tip — it’s right next to the aquarium — it took me awhile to find it… and I wished someone would let me know

The Helm Bar right at the bottom of the Pyrmont Bridge steps smack bang in the middle of Cockle Bay and King Street wharves at Darling Harbour is a nice place to grab a drink and something to eat. The bistro is quite good and has some daily specials that are certainly worth a shot including Schnitzel Monday, steak and cocktail Tuesday, fish and chip Wednesday, all you can eat mussels on a Thursday and a 1kg bucket of prawns for $ 25 on Saturday and Sunday. There are a few tables inside but it’s well worth grabbing a seat either upstairs in the under cover beer garden or down stairs looking on to the Darling Harbour concourse. It’s a pretty nice place worth stepping in to for a refreshemnt if you’re loitering around Darling Harbour.

Head to the Helm for sunset. Now there’s a good spot to sip something delicious and watch the sun go down. You can look straight over the tourists lining up at the Aquarium, or the hoards of commuters filing over the Pyrmont Bridge, and feel just the little bit smug I’ve yet to hit up Helm during high tide, when I really hope it doesn’t fill with obnoxious, overly-dressed Cargo Bar types. The other thing i haven’t yet done is eat at Helm, though they have a voucher in the Entertainment Book which might just tempt me over. The bistro menu serves up your pretty standard steak, salad, burger fare — so that plus a sunset might make for a fun trip up to the Helm.

Beauty and comfort rolled into one — that’s what Helm Bar at Pier 26 is all about. Their beautiful architecture, laid-back yet elegant ambiance and gorgeous harbour views attract tourists and locals alike. This bar’s interesting selection of good wines and classic cocktails, food, and entertainment all make this place great. A perfect visit for me includes witnessing a spectacular sunset, some sangria and fun company of good old friends. Beat that! Helm Bar seems to have something sweet for everyone. Steak and seafood promos, cheap drinks and rugby live on big screens are some of the things that you can look forward to. And if you’re up for a great celebration, go check Helm Functions. I’ve heard their function teams awesome too!
