If you can imagine a drive-​in, then you can imagine how the drive-​in at Dandenong works. You drive — in — and watch a movie from the comfort of your car. Bonuses to being enclosed: talking and cracking jokes throughout if the movie is terrible (my first drive-​in was to see 300), sleeping bags and blankets make movies better, and * ahem * the back seat is actually private. It’s still a drive-​in though

So let’s talk about what else this particular establishment has to enhance your cinematic experience. The diner, with it’s free-​to-​play old-​school arcade games. I think there might be pinball. The choc-​tops, which I’m told are rather delicious. The toilets, which should be used as a film set.
It’s an event, going to the Lunar Drive-​In. I feel a little bit like I should be wearing bellbottoms if I go, but 70s feel aside, it’s an event worth planning. Great for date night.
