Went here on a workday mid-day. The only Japanese restaurant open at 3 pm on willoughby. Wary of high prices, however changed my mind about the place after eating the food. The chicken teriyaki was high quality, fresh, prepared well, light and tasted great. Service was great– polite and friendly. Tried a japanese drink called calipsico for the first time. Recommend it(for some reason, its called ‘lactic acid’ on the menu. Also the basic side salad is very good, recommend w sesame.

I went into Sushi Counter because I fancied a bit of sushi al fresco(why not?) and it sits just opposite a very nice wee outdoor spot called Ernest Place. Upon entering it I was greeted with such cheer that I suddenly started wondering whether this really was my first time in here. No, apparently they’re just that friendly. I ordered a lunchtime sushi box(filled to the brim you’ll be happy to know) to go, though there’s ample space in the long restaurant to sit for a casual meal. It took a couple of minutes to assemble before I was shown to the door like an old friend they were sad to see go. The rolls and sashimi were fantastic, just the right amount of seaweed around them to not be too salty and with really generous slabs of fish. Delicious and ego-boosting, what more could you want from a meal?!
