I regularly come here for lunch over summer. The food and atmosphere is great. I love the front bar, where you can look out at the ocean, and the windows that slide up rather than sideways are perfect for this. Recently I discovered their thai beef salad which was fantastic! I’m a big meat eater, so don’t order salads that often, but this one had almost more meat than salad. And the meat was so tender and deliciously marinated. Last winter they had an anytime pizza and pint(of carlton draught) special for $ 15, which is unbeatable value for money! Fingers crossed they do it again this year :) Also the $ 10 all day breakie in the C Blu half of OBH is the best value for money breakie around(not the best quality, but you pay for what you get).

Have a fantastic meal here last nite! With awesome service! We shared the pork belly then had the laksa and beef n reef special topped off with the lemon meringue which was all wonderful! Such a breath of fresh air to find good food and service in a Perth venue! We will definitely be back!

Recently heard from a friend about the $ 10.00 breakfast special at the C Blu Restaurant at the OBH. Decided to check it out yesterday as the OBH is right on the beach and yesterday defiantly was a beach kind of day! The $ 10.00 breakfast special wasn’t anything tooooo AMAZING but it was your standard ‘big breakfast’… eggs your way, bacon, sausage, tomato, potato cake and toasted ciabatta. It was excellent value for $ 10.00 so I will be returning for this meal again. I also got a chocolate milkshake which was one of the best chocolate milkshakes I have ever tasted! And being a bit cheeky, my partner and I decided to share a slice of cake from the many cakes displayed. Because who doesn’t love a desert for breakfast: P Over all we left feeling very satisfied with out spending much money. The restaurant was also very nice inside and we were seated at one of the windows so we could look over the beach on such a lovely day :)

Had the Winter special $ 10 breakfast here on Thursday. Great price & about time Perth gave reasonable value for price! Of course a wonderful view over the ocean but the breakie was good. Service started badly but finished well. Go there for a change!

Ahhh the OBH. I love this pub! This was my local pub for many years when I lived around the area. I have always preferred it to the Cottesloe beach hotel simply because of it’s chilled out atmosphere. Although, I do like the Cott since it’s recent upgrade– it all depends on the occasion but obh is definitely the place to go for some chilled out, casual drinks. It’s on the perfect spot on the beach, right across from North Cottesloe beach. It has a huge outdoor beer garden out the back with a large indoor area with pool tables. There is also a front bar where you can sit and watch the passes by from the window. The Sunday sessions here are really fun over summer with DJs cranking from early on and the perfect way to end a weekend! The upstairs bar use to be really fun as well with amazing views over the ocean but I’m unsure whether this still opens anymore. The food here is good pub grub and at reasonable prices. Highly recommend for a chilled out drink on a nice summers day!

And evening stroll with some interstate guests at Cottesloe lead us to this fine establishment where the location is amazing particularly at sunset. We were hungry. To start we were informed that we needed a reservation for window tables. We had no problem with this but I will note that nobody was there the entire time we were present and these tables were mostly vacant the entire evening. Up one review of the menu I thought it was interesting to have Mexican food on the front page in its own section. To me this was a big neon sign — someone here is passionate about Mexican and can cook it well. So I indulged… Eventually… The service was really slow Burrito I ordered was fresh and authentic I loved every mouthful and all the condiments. My friends had the ribs And the barramundi which were equally as good. In summary great food, awesome location but slow service and disappointed on a reservation policy concerning tables with a view that didn’t make sense since they were vacant all night.

This would have to have been one of the worst lunches I have ever had and my co-diners would agree. We ate in the restaurant section and the prices immediately jumped out at being excessive. I ordered fish and chips at $ 26, and that’s what I got, and not even wrapped in a newspaper. Three small pieces of over fried snapper thrown on the plate with a bowl of chips and a small bowl of tartare sauce — not even a small basic salad. My wife had a pizza where the dough was plainly undercooked and sticky. We complained and got another which headed in the opposite direction, and arrived after others had finished food. The others had a vegetable stack nowhere near its $ 16 price and a burger that screamed out for some attention. Trying to get another beer was a challenge. Towards the end a waitress in a dirty stained uniform came to run a wet cloth across the table while we were still finishing drinks. All in all an appalling food, drinks and service experience. It had to be experienced to be believed. I wanted to save with NOSTARS but it wouldn’t let me!

The OBH, or the O-B as it fondly known to locals, is a great joint to for a Sunday Sesh to watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. It draws hoards and hoards of west-Perth people on any day when the temperature is over 20 degrees, so if you’re planning on ducking down for a sneaky cider, for goodness sake GETINEARLY. With three bars, a TAB, a restaurant and an outdoor beer garden, you’d think Cottesloe’s esteemed drinking hole would have sufficient seating to accommodate the masses. Unfortunately, it doesn’t, but don’t let that put you off an afternoon/evening of jocularity and amazing views. It’s not exactly near public transport, so the place is mainly for of ‘golden triangle’ types or FIFO’s keen to get wild in their down time. Don’t let that put you off though — the vibe is friendly, laid back and just the right amount of messy.

This is a great place to be on a Sunday afternoon in Summer *IF* you can get a spot in one of the great windows. Yes, the location is hot and the surroundings are paradise, but I’m afraid the ambience rests solely on the scenery and the hotel itself is pretty basic. The way the OBH is laid out is sort of awkward, it feels rough and there’s a lack of seating, which is not favorable to relaxing in a beach side atmosphere with cider in hand. I regularly find myself either awkwardly hovering around for a table to pounce at, or trying to talk to someone through squinted eyes from the afternoon’s sunset. Basically I just think the design it’s poor and uncomfortable.

I’m writing this review on Sunday afternoon at 4:45 P. M and all I can think about is where I’d rather be. The first place I’d rather be is in a Corona advert and the second place is the OBH. So all too often I’ll mix the two and drink a Corona while I’m chilling at the OBH. Nothing is better than the summer sun, the salty air, a cold beer, a steak sandwich and some good old fashioned camaraderie. The front bar has an awesome view of Cottesloe beach, there is a nice indoor sidebar thing and also a very spacious beer garden with a DJ playing some great tunes. Any time a friend visits from out of town, the first thing I pencil in is a sunday session at the OBH.

If I was doing this review last summer I would definitely have given Obi a 5 star rating — awesome beer garden, front bar which looks like a scene from a Corona ‘where you’d rather be’ ad, and an upstairs live band covering the greatest 80s and 90s hits. There was no other place to be on a Sunday than singing along to Don’t Stop Believing. Today, the beer garden still cranks on a Sunday, and the front bar is as spectacular as ever, but the happy days of the upstairs party are no more. That said its still a great local beach pub. The bar food is super solid, I’m a particular fan of the squid rings and the steak sandwich(on special with a pint $ 15 on thurs night open mic night yeww). There are plenty of beers on tap and the crowd is pretty chilled.

The Ocean Beach Hotel has been gradually upscaling itself over the years, to cater for the upscale of the area in general. Gone is the seedy pool table area, and nowadays the OBH is a sleek, modern and respectable-looking pub on the outside. The patrons, however, belie the OBH as a casual drinking hole, with the majority of patrons wearing thongs and with beach towels draped over railings. As a watering hole, the OBH offers a decent selection of beers on tap. There is James Squire, Coopers and Beez Neez accompanied by dubious beers such as Carlton, Tooheys, Victoria Bitter and the flagship of the bogan class, Emu Bitter. The food is rather pricey for their contents, but it seems patrons are expected to pay a little extra for the privilege of an ocean view. The OBH is a decent place to visit if you are looking for a drink after communing with the ocean. Also, don’t expect to be able to hold conversations while at the OBH — for some reason, it is surprisingly loud.

The OBH usually means one thing ‘Sunday Sesh’. It has a location that most would be jealous of but also attracts clientele that most wouldn’t be so jealous of. The amount of people that can be squeezed into this place(due to the large warehouse-type back bar) is rather scary but also a good ingredient in the madness that can ensue here. It can be eerily quiet here on a Friday night but try and order a swift drink on a Sunday afteroon? Good luck. Unfortunately there has been a sour taste with this place in the community due to an awful incident last year.

We sat there in the OBH and watched as two not especially attractive people climbed into their Lamborghini and sped away. They knew we were watching. There were forty of us and we were hard to miss. But they pretended not to see us. For some reason we felt cooler than them because we had wine and beer and bar snacks and didn’t need a car to look good. That and, well, there’s safety in numbers. There was people-watching to be had inside the hotel, too, but with windows as large and open as these, and with a view that demanded to be taken in, our attention was automatically drawn outside. The traditional Sunday session was still several hours away and we were content to let in the breeze and simply imbibe for a while. I probably should have imbibed beer, because this place has one of the least interesting and attractive wine lists I’ve come across in quite some time. Never have so many semillon-sauvignon blanc blends been found in the same place at the same time and never again should they be.(I dislike such blends, but that’s not my beef. My beef is the lack of varietal variety. I’d take off marks for a list full of rieslings, too, and reisling is my favourite white.) The list of reds is slightly more interesting but still nothing special. Not that this seems to bother anyone much, and not that it really bothered us. We were already drunk on the laidback atmosphere and would have been happy to imbibe anything.

OBH is a fantastic place to be on a big match day. My friends and I came here recently to watch the Rugby World Cup semi-final and I wouldn’t have wanted to watch it anywhere else. There is a really nice atmoshpere and so many screens around the bar to watch it on that you won’t miss a kick, a tackle or a try, no matter what way you turn! The bar has huge windows looking out onto Cottesloe Beach, so even if you are wasting a beautifully sunny day indoors you’ll still get to look out at a lovely view of it, and once the match is over there is great craic out in the sunny beer garden where they sometimes have a DJ on busy days. The only negative thing I will say is the bar staff are painfully slow and the queue for drinks will be about 5 people deep all around the bar — you could be waiting 30 minutes for a drink. It’s also a good place to spend a few hours on a Saturday if you’re out in Cottesloe with friends. They do good food which you can eat at the bar or at the tables outside(portion of wedges is $ 9 and easily feeds three!), and the pool room is a perfect place to get in out of the sun if it gets too hot on the beach.
