Cottesloe IGA

I much prefer this IGA to my nearest one in Mosman Park. There is an onsite bakery so there are more options with baked goods. There is also an onsite deli so you can get some delicious olives or pumpkins pes, not to mention the lazy Sunday cooked chicken.
They have recently been upgrading the store and as a result there weren’t any freezers but I am sure they will be back to normal soon. As with most IGA’s their fruit and veg is much more expensive than their competitors but it often tastes fresher too.

This IGA has recently received a half refurbishment with the fruit and veg section being renovated and freshened up. This is a pretty standard sort of neighborhood grocery store but has most of the stuff you could want.
The fruit and veg are fresh, the deli is small but good and they have a bunch of stuff like gourmet quiches and pies.
Price wise it’s more expensive than the supermarkets, and they have lost their competitive advantage a little since Woolworths in Cott is open til 9pm now.

IGA is the centrepiece of a tiny local shopping area in the side streets of Cottesloe, heading down toward Cottesloe beach.
After the sterile aisles of Coles and Woolworths, the rustic charm of of an IGA market was a breath of fresh air. I particularly liked how IGA isn’t constrained by the stocking policy of a large company and is able to tailor its shelves to the circumstances of each locality. This store, for instance, in recognition of its proximity to the beach, features a decently sized fishing tackle stand and sells bait.
This is a small store, but it makes the most of its limited space. It is divided up into a large corner of upright refrigerated units in front of three rows of covered freezer coffins and a few short, but well-​stocked, supermarket aisles. There might not be quite the variety here that you’ll find at the bigger grocers, but by not overfacing or overstocking individual lines, they manage to keep a wide variety of choices for the consumer.
IGA Cottesloe does a decent enough job as a local supermarket. For that speciality item you might have to make the hike to Claremont or Mosman Park, but nine times out of ten local residents and passers-​through like me will find what they are looking for — probably much more.
