There is no shortage of Pizza stores in the inner southern suburbs of Perth. Some stand out more then others due to the quality of their pizzas. Angelo’s is defiantly not one of them. Their pizzas are only average, but their prices reflect the prices one would expect to pay at a premium pizza store. With a name like Angelo’s I had high expectations of this establishment. That was until I entered the store. There is nothing Italian about this place. The staff were all Indian(not that there is anything wrong with that). I just presumed(because of the name) that Angelo was a master pizza creator, but instead the name Angelo seems to have come from the name of a nearby street in a neighbouring suburb. If I’m correct this is deceiving, yet smart. As for their pizzas, they are eatable but nothing special. I only purchase pizzas from Angelo’s because it is walking distance from my home so it’s perfect for when I’m too incapacitated to drive. When I’m in a incapacitated state it really does not matter what I eat. There is no point on wasting good food.

Need a late night slice or kebab after the Como locks down at some ridiculously early hour? This is you spot! Fast, clean, and pleasant, with some nice seats, what more can you say? It’s a pretty stock-standard pizza and kebab spot, nothing really notable otherwise. Watch out for the traffic out front though, they like to fly through there.

We’ve been having Angelo’s for years and have always had it over chain pizza stores. Why? Because they’re good quality pizzas, they’re big and they’re cheap. No this isn’t some fancy pants pizza place with all sorts of gourmet stuff, there is that option but even then this isn’t snobbish. Frankly the shop is worse for wear and well isn’t too lively at all but it’s clean, you get your pizza and get out. Great for when you been working all day and want to just feed the family or having a party. Have never had their pasta option because well I’m Italian and I like it the way I do it. Garlic bread is always nice. Never perfect, but doesn’t aspire to be.

The pizzas here aren’t my style. They’re the heavy, doughy base kind, and taste gluggy. I have come to like the thin Napoli style bases. Inspired by the sound of «Roast lamb fillets, lemon myrtle yogurt, mushrooms, macadamia nuts, Wild Rosella jam, cheese and wattle seed», we went for the ‘Aussie Lamb’ pizza, $ 18. I conjured up a really delicious and creative pizza in my mind… Salty lamb, balanced with zingy sour lemon yoghurt and sweet fruit jam… but the result was really heavy and one dimensional — the mushroom + lamb + macadamia + cheese was overload. I could barely taste the lemon and the jam just made it sickly, when it could have been fantastic. Definitely a case of good idea, executed poorly. If customer service was more cheery, and they weren’t so rigid with their meal deals,(garlic bread and drink combo only with«Classic» pizzas, no half and half or small sizes on Gourmet pizzas) I might have given them another star, because I only tried one pizza.

I have tried a number of local pizza options but have been unable to find a non-greasy GF pizza that doesnt have a doughy aftertaste to the base. I was very happy with my first Angelos experience. We tried the supreme with anchovies, the seafood and the prosciutto pizzas. The supreme was the tastiest of the three. The prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately our second expereince wasn’t as good. One of our pizzas was burnt black on top. The remaining two were still good. I am reluctant to order again but will keep you all posted if I do.
