It was quite by chance that I found myself at North Fitzroy’s Wine Liquidation Centre on one of the rare days that it is actually open. For The Wine Liquidation Centre, a purveyor of surplus wines at frankly ludicrously low prices, only hosts its incredible sales for three days once every six to eight weeks. Boasting a wine tasting bar where you can try — before you presumably buy — every single wine on offer, and even a playground to keep little ones busy while their parents go about getting inebriated, The Wine Liquidation Centre sells wine either by the bottle, the case(comprising 14 bottles) or the half case(6 bottles) for over 50% off RRP. With everything from cleanskin to Veuve Cliquot and much more in between, The Wine Liquidation Centre is a must-visit for anyone with a penchant for excellent vino. It’s probably best to sign up for the company’s newsletter so that you know when the next sale is on. Believe me, it’s worth it.

For years I have walked past this old warehouse with its massive signs and rusty tin roof and wondered what it’s purpose was. I have never ever seen it open before let alone witnessed a single sign of life within it’s walls. Well the other day I finally saw it in action and now my life has changed forever. The Wine Liquidation Warehouse opens it’s doors every 6 – 8 weeks for the weekend to sell a range of mostly fantastic wines at dirt cheap prices. They have a selection of single bottles that you can buy mostly around the $ 8 mark, but they do sell some more refined drops of French Champagne for $ 55 a bottle and other such desired tipples. But mostly the Liquidation Wine Warehouse sells wine by the case or half case. They give you an extra bottle free for every half case you buy, so you will get 14 bottles in a case. Either way, whether you are buying wine by the single bottle or by the case this place is super cheap and the quality of wine is mostly fantastic. My only advice is if you are buying any white wine, check the year. Because a lot of the wines they are selling are a few years old, which is fine(in fact mostly desired) with red wine, but when it comes to white you have to be a little more careful. Not all white wine ages well. That said, I don’t think I’ll be buying my wine from anywhere else from now on. You can check out their website for information on when they open, or get in touch with them to sign up to their mailing list if you want email notifications. Viva la Wine!
