An old inhabitant of Smith Street that is looking more and more quaint as the street gets developed and loaded up with cafes and bars. Alexander’s is a real Melbourne shoemaker and shoe repair store.
Two men sit in the very back of the shop behind the counter busily working away as an empty shop space simply lined with shelves of shoe boxes sits in front of them. In the two slim windows looking to the street, rows of classic leather men’s and women’s shoes at very decent prices are on display.
If you’re after a well-​made pair of brogues or loafers, you’d do well to check this place out. The range is small, but the styles are simple and old-​school enough to appeal to many.
