Lovely fruit. Staff are fantastic. But the fruit seems too over priced so I won’t go back unless I desperately need something!

Frootz on Parade certainly has the three F’s — fresh, flavoursome and fascination. They have a wonderful range of produce that always looks in tip top shape. I absolutely love going here to get inspired to eat more than my 5+ a day. And I like the fact that you can get varieties of produce that you just can’t find your your average supermarket.
I guess my only criticism is that it is fairly pricey. But if you think about it Fruit and Veg are cheaper than most other types of food and far more healthy. So if a shop stock quality and a good range that makes you want to eat more of the good stuff. And lets face it. Supermarkets sell fresh fruit and veg at exorbitant prices — I would much rather support my local Fruit and Veg store.

You gotta love a good fruiterers. Frootz is a pretty good fruiterers, I wouldn’t go so far as to say an amazing or even great fruiterers, but they do what they do and they do it with good style. They have great signage, give a little flash of colour to a slightly bland stretch of shops in Clifton Hill and occupy their corner with pride of place.
I used to love watching them set up in the mornings when I was on my way to work. Pre-​dawn in the winter time, they’d unload their fresh market-​bought produce from the back of a flat-​bed truck, breath smoking in the dim morning light. It sounds a little poetic, even makes me a little nostalgic for those times, but y’know, we can’t turn back time. Plus, they’re still operating in the same fashion. Maybe I’ll drive on by for old times sake.

Pineapples, people! Pineapples!
They have this marvellous invention that rips the outer layers off, as well as the tough middle. No work required on your behalf. Deliciously sweet too. A magic-​green grocer-​invention to serve our terribly busy schedules, after all, I don’t have half an hour to cut up my own pineapple!
Pineapples aside, they do sell all the other usual fruits and veg. They’ll almost always have an avocado that’s ready to go, and their herbs rival others: always fresh and unbruised.
It’s a lovely little shop to go into too, very pleasing on the eye as everything is well displayed. Plus, they also stock non-​fruit and veg goodies such as yoghurt and cheese, as well as a freezer which is packing a heap of gluten-​free foods (YEAH!).
The staff are lovely and chatty and their stock vibrant and fresh.

Frootz on Parade is what I would call a boutique little fruit and veg shop. Located in a small space on Clifton Hill’s Queens Parade which has been home to a fruit and veg store for more than 80 years, Frootz on Parade’s tiny premises belies the somewhat staggering array of fruit and veg on offer at this award winning little grocer.
Last time I visited Frootz on Parade I was en route to a friend’s house for lunch and was asked to pick up five potatoes as a mushroom substitute for the fungi-​phobes at lunch. Easier said than done. Despite its relatively ditty size, Frootz on Parade had not one but four different varieties of potatoes on offer. Impressive.
On the service side, Frootz on Parade’s staff are extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. Prices can be a little steep but if you stick to fruit and veg that’s firmly in season you can’t go too far wrong. All in all an excellent little local grocer.
