This restaurant is interesting, it’s like a small cottage turned into a restaurant, with its own charm. With that said, there are only about 10 tables, so be sure to make a reservation if you want to come here for a special occasion celebration. Service is good but food was OK. (came here for the mothers day brunch — $ 100 per pax for a 3 course meal) The first course was foie gras parfait. It was quite tasty, however there were only three small pieces of crispy bread to eat it with(but goes really well with the wine jelly) and it was too rich to eat it on its own. Second course was salmon with corn/egg plant purée. This is probably my favourite course. The salmon was cooked perfectly(so yum with the crispy salmon skin). Last course was Chai panna cotta with ganache kiss. I didnt like this course either, the panna cotta did not go well with the«macaroon/or cookie»(or ganache kiss). The dough was way too thick with too little chocolate filling. Maybe they are trying to show off too much techniques? Well… like what Matt always says on Masterchef — always keep it simple, let the food shines.

Very good food, very good service. Very expensive. $ 40 mains for nicely cooked butter poached Barra. $ 28 for four scallops. A kind touch adding an extra scallop so Keeno and I could share an entrée, two each. They were really good. I think maybe ‘citrus salt seared’ is a way of curing them as they were cold, but the flavour was pure. This place has a special charm. We have been coming here since Annie Parmentier ran it in the 80’s. Maybe I shouldn’t keep saying that sort of stuff but, first, it grounds my view that there is very good and very very good — because I have had both in the same little weatherboard cottage. I have seen at least five different iterations, be it new chefs, new owners, new paint, new chairs. Only the frangipani outside the window at our table stays the same. Second, its true. This is very good. And someone else had our table.
