Taiwanese desserts have been becoming more popular in Sydney of late. The latest one I’ve discovered is Zen Q. FOOD The first time I went there we ordered the Mango Snow Ice($ 8.80). I was excited that Snow Ice had finally come to Sydney but it failed to compare to the ones in Taiwan. Whilst it’s English translation is «snow ice» the ice is actually meant to be mixed with condensed milk so it comes out more powdery and less crunchy so that it just dissolves in your mouth when your tongue touches it. Whilst the consistency was close enough the one at Zen Q lacked the condensed milk taste to it. I didn’t think I’d go back to Zen Q again but I couldn’t help but want to dying to try the toast boxes again as the last time I had it was 6 years ago in Japan. Given the Mango sale on now we opted for the Mango Lover. The whole cube, including insides, is toasted and topped with fresh mango, custard cream, ice-cream and 2 wafer sticks. It definitely wasn’t as good as I remember the one in Japan being which had me dreaming for the last 6 years when I would get to experience such awesomeness again. The outside of the cube was particularly hard and too toasted for a dessert toast. VERDICT Never seen this chain in Taiwan during the time I lived there. Probably a reason for that. Is it just me or does name of the dessert house also sounds to me like a fobby version of thank you?
