Hello Kitty Diner makes it into my list of restaurant I should visit just because it’s Hello Kitty and they are so cute. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and able to get a table straight away. As expected, they have numerous Hello Kitty products in display in front of the diner as well as inside. The diner it self is typical US diner but decorated in a cute white and pink Hello Kitty colours. but the food, price and service was not good at all.

If nothing else, this place is guaranteed to make you smile. It is pink and silly and full of cute women wearing bows. I noticed a few people on Facebook complaining about the prices but I thought they were about average Sydney. We ordered the fried mozzarella sticks which turned out to be a weird Korean/American fusion of sweet and salty with wasabi dipping sauce — an acquired taste which I loved but my husband didn’t. The fried chicken and kitty shaped waffle was surprisingly delicious and gets big bonus points for being breast meat and not thigh! The cheese burger was very simple but very good. The pancake shake was interesting but think I’ll go for the freakshake next time. The only real letdown with this place was the lack of merchandise. I longed to take home one of those super cute glasses that the drinks come in, but they are not for sale. This, if you ask me is a seriously missed opportunity as apparently the overseas branches sell them. Finally, it is worth mentioning that this diner is oddly lacking in kid-friendly food like hot dogs or chicken nuggets — all that super bland stuff that normally features on kids menus. So, would I go to the Hello Kitty Diner again? Totally! Would I bring my 7 year old niece? Probably not…

This diner in Mandarin Centre Chatswood is new and popular with Hello Kitty fans! There is some Hello Kitty decorations and memorabilia. The waiters have a bow on their head. Food is no better than an ordinary diner but relatively more expensive. Frankly if you do not have little kids or grand kids urging you to go, don’t bother. It is definitely not worth the wait in the queue. Spend the money in an op shop and buy a ton of Hello Kitty stuff for the little ones.

Hovering above Chatswood Train Station, The District will change how you think about food courts. Inspired by our Asian neighbours, the colourful hawker outlets are arranged in indoor ‘laneways’ with nooks of low-lit communal dining scattered throughout. At one end a radio tower and busy train-lines provide a commanding, yet utterly industrial, view. For movie buffs, the brutalist angled concrete girders will summon up parkour possibilities, including scenes The Hunger Games and District 13. A range of cuisines are represented across the hawker outlets. Cheers Cut is a Taiwanese outlet famous for fried chicken; while Ippudo is your Japanese go-to spot for a ramen fix. Chum Tang is a new venture for Chef Taweenrach(Pla) Rojratanavichai, of Khao Pla fame; and there’s also the opportunity to try the baked buns with BBQ pork that helped shoot Tim Ho Wan into previously unheard of Michelen Guide fame. To get your sweet fix, there’s cocoa fun at The Choc Pot and frozen pineapple sorbet at Passion Tree, though it’s hard to resist the super-kawaii charm of Hello Kitty Diner. Too full from my earlier adventure at Simmer Huang to do much more than marvel at the fitout, I have earmarked the burgers(designed by Chur Burger’s Warren Turnbull) for a later date. However it was too difficult to resist curling up in a booth with some Smoked Lemonade($ 4.50). This clever piece of Americana is made by smoking lemons then cooling them and making lemonade. It screams tailgate parties and begs for sneaky addition of bootleg bourbon, against a plate of fried chicken and waffles from their wider menu. Equally entertaining is a Salted Pretzel Milkshake($ 8) sucked from a striped straw in a Hello Kitty branded handled jar. Yeah I know, I usually hate drinks in jars, but somehow here they’re totally okay. The crunchy salty pretzel pieces are a nice touch, making this sweet, ice-creamy drink quite adult friendly.

Checked out the Hello Kitty Diner today & though it won’t be winning any awards for gastronomic delights it’s a lot of fun & the younger clientele were especially enjoying it(a group of 7 year old girls giggled over their freak shakes merrily while we tucked into fried chicken & namesake waffles). The service is friendly & efficient & though the seats could use a good scrub(our banquette seat was horribly stained — perhaps from a freak shake incident) on the whole it’s worth a visit if this is your kind of thing.

You really come to this restaurant for the photo op. They don’t serve enough of Hello Kitty on their food items. Your best bet is the hello kitty head shaped waffles. Tastes like an apple pie. I would choose mc Donald apple pie over this waffle. If they only took advantage of the money they could make from merchandise alone. That’s what we come here looking for! Best souvenir are the hello kitty napkins lol.

I wish there were more things shaped like kitty. Wow… How often I life do you get to say something like that? I thought it was funny that here were multiple groups of men in this place. That was he first sign that this place had more going for it than just hello kitty. The burgers are good and substantial. Also, who doesn’t need a pancake milkshake in their life? The only actual kitty thing you can get are the waffles(which are either a dessert or come as chicken and waffles) or as a chocolate powder stencil on top of your coffee.

There’s certain expectations when you go to a place that bears the name of one of the most beloved popular character like Hello Kitty. I happened to be in the area and I have an hour to spare, so I grabbed my kids and I thought it would be nice to try the new Hello Kitty diner. Arrived, a long queue. Of course why wouldn’t it be, we wouldn’t be the only curious bunch. There was hype, people were excited hence the queues. I found myself disappointed for the lack of theme to start with. There was a big Hello Kitty statue and some cute nick-nacks on display just outside the diner. But once you walked in the theme seems to dissipate. The Crumbed Mozzarella Sticks were enjoyable, there’s a nice crunch on the outside, cheesy and gooey on the inside. The fries were thin cuts which you can dip in ‘a very garlicky’ aioli. The Pancake Milkshake was very creative and it tasted just like pancake. My favourite was the Green Apple Soft Serve Ice Cream. Served on a waffle cone, it was creamy and the apple flavour brings freshness. It was heavenly! The Hello Kitty Diner Soda was refreshing, it was a great thirst quencher! The space is limited. The staff were friendly. The food was great and I genuinely enjoyed the whole experience. I would come back again once the hype has passed.

The Novelty of this place is Awesome! I’m not a hello kitty fan but definitely got excited when I arrived and seen the décor! I have read mixed reviews on the food and price! I feel like what ever bad reviews I have read they have fixed them all the food was hot fresh and simply awesome the lamb ribs were incredible! I’m not a big lamb rib fan but WOW these were amazing! Burger buns melt in your mouth — the classic burger! Pancake shake — yum Price for Sydney prices I found it normal $ 76 for 3 drinks 3 entrées and 2 burgers and 2 people leaving the diner absolutely stuffed!

Must get the Lamb Ribs! Arguably the best lamb ribs I have ever had. The pancake milkshake was really yum too. Worth going for the novelty of Hello Kitty. The burgers are ok. Portions were kinda small considering the prices. Got to say again«lamb ribs»!!!

So it’s a novelty diner for Hello Kitty. The décor is great! However a bit disappointed that no merchandise was being sold there. I ordered Chicken and waffles with bourbon maple syrup and the Classic burger. The waffles were very delicious and I would recommend them. The Classic burger was good too. It was juicy and a good burger. The smoked lemonade held the smoked flavour and was something different to try. Not as much Hello Kitty as the other cafes/diners overseas, but still good to visit.

Waited the better half of an hour. Korean fried chicken, kimchi cucumber & picked vegetables. Pretty average burger. No crunch to the chicken, standard soft, fluffy buns, tasted nothing like kimchi. The sweet potato fries weren’t crispy or crunchy either. Dense and heavy. The miso mayo made it taste better. but not really like miso. Pancake Milkshake was amazing! And would definitely recommend. It’s a bit expensive at $ 8, though for such a tiny mason jar…

Went to this place last Friday with a few friends and we were disappointed by the food quality and portion and the service. The portions are tiny, we thought we have accidentally ordered the kids portion instead. The popcorn prawn we ordered only consisted of 14 pieces of 1⁄6 of a prawn. Our fried chicken waffles was also undercooked, which we returned and had to wait an extra 30 minutes for replacement. The food does not taste amazing too, bland and oily mostly. The only saving grace of the whole night was the drinks. Unless they dramatically improve their food quality and portion, I find it very hard to find a reason to go back.

For the die hard Hello kitty fan that is a foodie or for a pop cultural experience this place is for you! Just be prepared for the line up and I don’t recommended going in a big group as this place has minimum seating. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food is basic; very simple and very tasty. The portion size isn’t too crazy either. We waited 10 minutes in the line, ordered, sat down and our drinks were served as soon as we sat down. Within 15 minutes our food came out. We got the maple burger, mozzarella sticks and chicken waffles it was delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try everything on the menu!

As soon as I heard there was a Hello Kitty diner in Sydney I had to go. I’m not necessarily a massive Hello Kitty fan but I love pop culture and themed restaurants! This diner is just above Chatswood train station and is located in the eatery. The interior décor and the outside is CUTE(or should I say, ~kawaii~?). The cups, mugs, napkins all have Hello Kitty designs and logos on them. Even the straws are cute and fit with the overall theme of the restaurant. I love the atmosphere of this place! Prices are a bit above average($ 8 for a milkshake) and the burgers are not huge. I got a fries, a classic burger and a salted caramel pretzel milkshake and it cost me $ 25 all up. The food is typical diner stuff — greasy and delicious :) I wouldn’t suggest you come here for a gourmet meal! Because it’s just opened, the line is out the door. Pro tip: Arrive 30−60mins before you want to actually eat so you can line up. Bigger groups are harder to get in because there are only so many booths. But I expect the hype to die down eventually.
