I used to go to Café Andronicus(back in the days) at least once a week. I haven’t been back for a while, after they changed the name to café new york, because the coffee wasn’t as good anymore… and recently went there twice — tried their linguine and soup of the day. They were so delicious — much better than few years ago! Food has improved so much. Save as to the fact that it’s super noisy, it’s good. I don’t have any opinion as to the service because we didn’t have any particular problem, it was just very standard and the food came pretty quick. I would definitely go back for food. Chatswood honestly doesn’t have many good cafés despite the fact that there are just so many of them!

Just tried out this café this week with a couple of friends. The food was good overall but didn’t leave me wanting more — the wedges were great and chicken and avacado melt was good but not the best. I’d come here again to try more of their selection but I’m not dying to come back. Friendly staff though!

If you just want a good cup of coffee and breakfast with no fuss, this is the place. No frills, service is pleasant enough, food is edible and satisfies hunger. Their raisin toast was ok, well toasted and came with soft butter to spread. Banana bread was the usual ones that you can get at many cafes in Sydney. Belgian waffle was a little special with ice cream and caramelised banana but too sinful and unhealthy for breakfast. More a dessert for after dinner. There are so many cafes in Chatswood, this wins by being located at a very busy intersection with high human traffic.

Great coffee. I come in pretty frequently and the coffee is always good. The food is a bit pricey for the quality, however I only tried the dessert. If your looking for a friendly barista and a good coffee this a def a place to go.

There are two Café New Yorks within a 2 minute walk of each other because Chatswood is like that. I haven’t been to the other, but this one was fine for a casual tea date. Very smiley staff and other patrons were having pretty full-on meals. It reminded me a lot of little cafes from my days in east Asia opened by somewhat arty, idealistic young adults who recently bucked custom by backpacking through Europe. It’s more Seoul/Tokyo cozy-cute than the somewhat sterile 2 kool 4 skool Starbucks vibe you’d expect from a chain café. I’m not sure if they have free Wi-Fi but I was definitely the only one glued to device practicing Spanish for a few minutes. No one glared at me while I angrily muttered obscenities at my phone for marking«Las soldadas son altas» or something as incorrect which is a positive or negative depending on your café style

Friendly staff. Good food. Decent range on menu. It’s located right in the centre of Chatswood, halfway between Westfields and The Chase. The atmosphere is that of a sanctuary in the middle of the CBD. From time to time I take my laptop in, order the banana smoothie and something to eat, and just write. It’s always busy, so the food is always fresh. I’ve never had a negative experience.

I’ve been coming to this café(formerly Café Andronicus) for decades and attempted a trip down memory lane on a recent trip back home to Oz. I’m sorry to see that the quality of service has declined over the years and I was disappointed with their pettiness over a simple issue. I ordered their eggs and salmon brekkie special and while most of the dish was tasty, their Turkish toast was cold, hard, and dripping with butter. I asked for a replacement toast which finally arrived about ten minutes later. When I paid for the meal I was charged $ 5 for the replacement toast which they now argued was a «side» — even though I’d clearly asked for it to replace the soggy toast, which had come out without jam, clearly not as a side. They really whinged at me over a matter that should have been a simple«sorry» and replaced at no extra cost. There are too many other great places in Chatswood for me to bother returning to Café New York…

Previously called Café Andronicus, Café New York in Chatswood, located at the cross walk on Victoria Avenue, is a comfortable eatery and coffee house with ample seating both inside and out. I sat in that café once for over four hours drinking coffee. You’re probably thinking one of two things right now, either I’m extremely slow, or I drank a lot of coffee. Well, neither, I had two coffees at moderate pace. It just so happens that I was in charge of uploading data from a disk onto a laptop and so I sat and I watched that progress bar, drank the café’s water and sipped on a soy cappuccino. The café is clean and free from clutter, a silver and black colour scheme makes it quite attractive and the wait staff are kind and friendly and sweet when they smile. Looking back at the café under its old name, Andronicus, I recall that they had the happy and sad actor faces utilised by Shakespeare as their logo. So Andronicus must have been in reference to Titus Andronicus, a play about a man who gets revenge on a person by baking their sons into a pie and then feeding it to the mother. Good name change. Café New York is a great a little café with good coffee, good service and good times.(Editor’s Note: The goodness of a persons times will vary depending on mood and situation.)
