Located a few shops up from a Salvos Store where their second hand stock is considerably cheaper might be a dangerous recipe for this retailer. Fortunately the stock inside Second Hand Lane Way is far more«costumey» and vintage than the Salvos offering. There isn’t a huge guys selection but some cute jackets. This is really a store for the ladies. Sooo many dresses, think polka dots, stripes, tulle, satin, shoulder pads, fluro, lace etc. I did see some kitsch wall hangings and an interesting mirror around the $ 50 mark. I have also seen the owner of this store in other op shops around the burbs so I know she is constantly updating her stock. Guys jackets average around $ 30 and the dresses range between $ 25-$ 55 for the good stuff. Also some good accessories and handbags.

It’s happened again. The clothes seem to spew forth from the opening that is the shop front of Second Hand Lane Way. The only time this isn’t happening is when the doors close for the evening and some winter rainy days. The sheer quantity of wares here — from clothes to shoes to furniture — can appear daunting at first, but believe me even ten minutes in this place is well worth the dive. On closer inspection you may find the clothing selection is better for costumes or something other than everyday wear, but the kids apparel range usually works wonders on my niece. Especially the hats. If you’re a hat person you could be here a while. The people are nice and tell you all kinds of crazy tales about the things they’re finding, or have found, or even hope to find one day.

This vintage clothing draws you in by it’s massive street display which changes almost every day, and keeps you in with it’s ridiculous amount of stock. Pants, shirts, dresses, scarves and hats line the walls, and there is a large amount of homewares available too — mirrors, seats and cushions for example. I am definitely more impressed by the homewares available than the clothing, in fact I have never found any great clothes here at all but am always tempted by the retro mirrors hanging on the walls and the dorky ‘art’ available(think huge pictures of cute cats!) The service here is top-notch. My first purchase at Second Hand was a 90’s brown leather backpack, the woman behind the counter went in to detail about how she was so glad«the bag was going to a good home.» I love someone who’s passionate about their work!
