You know a café/restaurant/eatery is good when the locals eat there and that’s the case at Wilson & Walsh. Everyone seems to know each other by name and the staff know what everybody wants to order before they open their mouth. I tried a chicken, avocado and sun-dried tomato roll, which at $ 9 was fairly expensive but it was tasty, wasn’t pre-made and the ingredients were fresh — particularly the chicken which makes or breaks a good roll. The soup was a popular choice amongst the locals on a cold, wintry Melbourne day. It’s always good when these lunch type cafes have newspapers to read and Wilson & Walsh had loads of them, almost on every table and different mastheads instead of just the Herald Sun. The staff here were friendly if a little business-like but I would go back here, just not every day.
