Nice burger joint, average quality burger but good enough for a suburban area. Only been there once, won’t be rushing back anytime soon. Went with a big group of friends on a Friday night and there was a nice crowd.

I had wanted to go here since reading reviews on Facebook and earlier today, my husband and I had the opportunity. It was after the lunch rush had died and before dinner service. In fact, we had the whole place practically to ourselves. The waitress led us to a table and walked away. My husband ordered the ‘Troublesome Burger’ with a double patty and I ordered the vege burger. We didn’t bother with entrées or side dishes as we had already been pre-warned on the size of the meals. As the burgers were served, mine looked ordinary compared to my husband’s. His looked mouthwatering good! Surprisingly my husband managed to finish his meal rather quickly, and although quite messy, his appetite was sated. I however, was disappointed not only with the look if the burger but the taste too. Out of 5 stars, I rate the meal 2.5, the service 3 and the cleanliness of the joint full 5 stars.

We made the long trek to Canning Vale for Johnny’s after procrastinating the visit for ages. My husband and I shared the Dracula’s Dilema burger(garlic and olives), cheese sticks, curly fries and onion rings. I was impressed with the curly fries, cheese sticks and the huge selection of sodas available. The burger was enjoyable enough, but I think the creamy garlic sauce got a bit much after a few mouthfuls. The onion rings were better than a lot of places, breadcrumbed instead of battered which is my preference, but they were unbelievably oily. Another downside, the tiny paper cup of garlic mayo, which while tasty, was ridiculously small for $ 1.50. All up, Johnny’s was not as awe inspiring as I had hoped, but a tasty, food-coma experience.

I’ll have to admit, I was caught up in the hype surrounding Johnny’s Burgers. Their photos on Facebook looked amazing, and I was excited to have easy access to some of the flavours that I have missed since returning to Australia from Nevada. The All-American Burger Bar theme is strong, right down to the red plastic baskets that much of the food is served upon. Unfortunately, I feel as though this place is getting by on gimmick rather than substance. The wife and I ordered the cheese sticks, onion rings, and a couple of burgers. The onion rings, while incredibly greasy, were solid enough probably the tastiest part of my meal. The cheese sticks were dense and oily. Rather than being deliciously gooey, they were simply soft and insipid. We had expected them to be mozzarella, as was usually the case back in the ‘States, but this was some sort of processed cheese concoction. After my first bite into my Double Trouble burger, I wasn’t sure how I felt. It wasn’t disgusting or anything, but there was certainly no explosion of heavenly tastes that I crave in a good burger. It tasted like something I’d throw together in a hurry at home — acceptable, but nothing I’d want to pay too much for. The beef patties were bland and the predominant taste was of the great gouts of mayo and other sauces that had been slathered far too generously over the entire concoction. After a while I realised that I was just eating for the sake of it. The burger was huge, but at no point was I glad of the bounty before me. The wife fared little better with her Vegesaurus. This sole vegetarian option contains two major ingredients that you would never find anywhere near a real American burger — beetroot and egg — and feels pitched at the«Aussie Burger» demographic. Like my burger, hers was overwhelmed by an enormous chunk of iceberg lettuce and far too much mayo. Both burgers were supposed to come with cheese, but it was either absent or so little that we couldn’t detect it at all. This establishment certainly knows how to rope in its demographic, but it didn’t tick the box for me, either in terms of authentic American burgers or in terms of the gourmet-quality burger implied by the prices. McDonald’s create your taste is far superior, and that’s a problem.

After being indecisive one night and craving a burger I suggested Johnny’s Burgers for dinner. We got there just after 7pm and the place was packed! But we managed to get a table for 2. No matter how busy it was people were just coming in and willing to wait — they even take phone orders aswell — which is a good idea.(Guess that’s why it takes awhile to get your food) After looking through the menu I decided on trying the«Jucy Lucy» burger which is a beef patty that has been stuffed with lots of cheese. So you can just imagine the mess after a bite or two ;). After placing our order — and waiting for sooo long… and watching other people enjoying their food we were getting quite peckish… we finally received our fries around 40mins after ordering. Then our burgers came out about 15minutes later. So nearly an hour wait to get out meals — but to be honest it was worth it.(Apparently they are meant to mention that there’s around a 40minutes wait — but didn’t tell us on this occasion) When my burger came out my jaw dropped! It was HUUUGE! And it had a ridiculous amount of bacon(which is never an issue) but it was pretty messy to eat. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt like I was on an episode of Man v Food lol. I gave it a good go but I couldn’t finish it(lucky I didn’t get a shake). I felt like a had consumed a weeks worth of calories in 1 night haha. Next time though I would like to try the Philly Cheese steak or hotdogs… they all looked delish!

If you are after a burger fix that is good value for money this place doesn’t disappoint. I got the standard ‘trouble maker’ burger and added bacon for only $ 2.50 extra, I was surprised with how generous the serving was!

Delicious and authentic all the way! Love it! A bit difficult to find — signage is a bit cryptic! Come hungry as the portions are generous!

I first went to Johnny’s Burgers 12 months ago, and we returned this weekend to once again celebrate my Mother’s birthday. We arrived early at 11:30 to find it empty, but it wasn’t long before the customers started streaming in and the restaurant was practically full by the time we left. The menu has something for everybody — beef, chicken, hot dogs, chips, onion rings, milkshakes… you get the picture. We tried all of these between us today, and no-one was disappointed. The service is friendly, the food comes out quickly and the pricing is very reasonable — what more could you ask for? I didn’t actually have a burger today, I tried the Chicago Chilli Dog. If you like chilli dogs, I can’t recommend this one high enough, it’s the best I can remember having in a very long time — great sausage, spicy chilli, and just the right amount of everything to make it practical to eat. An easy recommendation from me.

If you’re after a casual bite and a burger packed with absolute goodness, then check this place out if you’re in the area! Just the heads up, you won’t be hash tagging your food piks with #Fitspo or #CleanEating!

Big serves, and big flavours. But nothing overly special. It was good but not the best thing I’ve ever had, I wouldn’t suggest this as a destination spot — but if you’re nearby I would give it a go.

Very popular place in the suburbs, the owner is the most engaged, passionate kitchen owner I have come across, he puts in the hours and you can tell. I haven’t had anything I didn’t like. The buffalo wings are legit, no hot wings, BUFFALO wings — a huge difference if you want buffalo wings. May have to wait a while in peak times, I’m hoping johnny expands to a second store.

Love love love this burger joint! It ain’t fancy and it is affordable(in my books anyway). $ 11-$ 24 a burger… Pretty average nowadays. Something that is decent in suburbia is what we needed. My hubby and I frequent this burger joint for their generous and tasty burgers! We do phone ahead to ensure we have a great feed on arrival. it does take at least 20mins. The flavours are spot on! … Their chilli dogs even better than the ones we had in NYC! Cannot fault anything, but if I had to… It’s that I don’t live in walking distance :) My gawd… Need. A. Johnnys burger. Now!

Johnny’s is a bit of Canning Vale institution so I was excited to try it out. I ordered the philly cheese steak with a side of hot sauce and fries. The Philly cheesesteak was filled with tender meat and plenty of cheese and it was served in a soft hotdog style roll. The fries were crispy and the hot sauce pretty good. All in all it’s a pretty decent option if you find yourself in this neck of the woods. Nothing particularly ground breaking here, nor is there much atmosphere and the service is just average.

Despite being only a suburb away and being on my to-visit list for a while, it took me a long time to get to Johnny’s burgers. Canning Vale just seems miles out of my way as it’s not on the way anywhere else for us. But the burgers at Johnny’s are definitely worth the trip. They serve American style burgers — big juicy meat patties with various trimmings. The meat is the main flavour of the burger, rather than just a lump of protein. We ordered some buffalo wings and onion rings and were so thoroughly delighted to find the most authentic buffalo wings that we’ve ever encountered in Australia. And believe me, I’ve searched high and low. The sauce was spot on. The blue cheese dressing was average, but the wings more than made up for it. The onion rings were big and nice sweet onions. Oddly, despite being«sides» they were finished and cleared away before our burgers came. We decided to order the original(salad, mustard, sauce, cheese) and the Jucy Lucy(cheese in the patty, bacon, BBQ sauce, onions) and share them. By the time they came, we were already bordering on full from the sides. We cut them both in half, and when the Jucy Lucy was cut in half, it spilled beautifully stretchy molten cheese everywhere. Seriously, it felt like there was more cheese on the plate than the size of the burger itself! We ended up only making our way through half a burger before just eating the fillings out of the rest — we were too full! But both were very tasty and very authentic to what we’d eaten in the states. The restaurant is big, open and clean looking, with tables that can be pushed together for large groups. They do American style milkshakes and have imported cool drinks(Jarrito, Arizona etc.) I am pretty keen to go back and try their pulled pork, and their Chicago hot dog.

Way too much sauce in their burger. The beefy patty had little flavour and felt quite empty. Very much over hyped.

Good things come in huge packages here! The specialty burgers are mammoth and enough to satiate someone well into the next mealtime. I ordered the cheese sticks, deep fried crisp parcels of Monterey Jack cheese — an American staple. The Cure burger was 200g bacon with a 200g bacon infused beef patty served with cheese, onion and the cure sauce. Absolutely delicious! Also had one of the best vanilla milkshakes I’ve bee had. Super thick and the cream on top looked absolutely perfect. Although I don’t think they’re the best burgers in Perth it is definitely worth checking out.

I’m sorry Unilocalians,(mostly Tanesh & Michelle D) I am going to have to completely disagree with your 4 and above star reviews. We came here for dinner just after 6pm on a Sunday night. After a while laughing at the very amusing & creative, although somewhat racist in some cases, menu items, I ordered The Cure, which the menu claims to turn vegetarians and N ordered the Big Buffalo. It was busy and there was a table of about 8 who ordered before us, so we expected a wait. We waited nearly 25 minutes before our curly fries arrived and then a further 10 minutes or more for our burgers. Yes, when they arrived they looked impressive: mine was twice as high as N’s! But that’s all that was positive about this eating experience. The bun was so dry it cut the roof of my mouth several times, the bacon was super oily and the patty was dry — I had to dip it into the sauce that had dripped out onto the paper on my tray, under my burger. N said the Buffalo was spicy and tasty but he felt ill before we left. It wasn’t long until I felt a bit ill too. I was extremely disappointed by our experience after hearing and reading other Unilocalian’s reviews. Before you think I’m one of those calorie counting girls, let me reassure you, I’m not. I’m eating from a large Ben & Jerry’s half baked tub of ice cream as I type this! The reasons I’m disappointed is because for over $ 40 I would have expected a moist patty, fresh bun or lightly toasted and fresh ingredients. I’m glad I tried it but I’d pick Fussy Burger over Jonny’s Burger Joint any day of the week.

These are really really tasty burgers! The staff have indicated that proprietor Johnny(hence the business name!) have made multiple trips to the states and love the style of burgers there so much, he brought the concept back. From the specialty burgers such as the Chili Chili Bang Bang(spicy!) and the Big Buffalo(chicken patty in buffalo wings style) There are also the big bangin’ burgers to the likes of the Troublemaker(with mustard) and the Down Undaaahhh(Aussie style burger with the essential beetroot) All the beef burgers have Johnny’s own secret recipe patties which are juicy and absolutely delicious. There are also a duo choice of chicken burgers and vegetarian choices such as the Magic Mushroom and the Vegesaurus. American classics such as buffalo wings and chili dogs are also available, and for those of you who are looking for a challenge, there is the Demon’s Revenge(with its«Holy S**T!» secret sauce) or the Burgerzilla(order 1 day in advance… which is probably the amount of time you need to starve yourself). Do yourself a favour and come down for a bite(well…it’ll take quite a few bites for these burgers) I know I definitely will again!

This place does serve up some good burgers, but is a bit hit and miss at times. I have had some good burgers and some that are ok, the beef pattys are ok and there burgers are huge! Very hard to finish! The burgers are very very messy however and i find they drown it in sauce. I like the fries and the onion rings though. They use good ingredients, and you can wash it down with some american soft drink. There is some value for money here, however the wait times let them down… 30 – 40 minutes for a burger is really slow, they need to be faster in the kitchen.

FOODCOMA!!! These burgers are amazing! The bacon is dreamy… Closest you can get to american bacon which I miss dearly. They also have Cactus Cooler and Arizona Ice Tea!!! I had the magic mushroom with bacon= sinfully delicious! I also drooled over my friend’s burgers: Vegosaurus, Dracula’s Dilemma, Juicy Lucy and hot chicken(?) onion rings and waffle fries! YUM!!! My group of 7 +1 baby fit in the restaurant easily! If you like to live on the wild side this would be a great place for a first date! Messy, fun and delicious!
