Blackcow

A very cool restaurant for Canley Heights.
As previous reviewers have stated «the service is very slow» but… the ribs are worth the wait! Yum yum yum and reasonably priced.
The wine list is pretty average but a
decent selection of cocktails. They also have beer on tap.
Did I mention the ribs??? Yum yum yum
If your looking for something other than Asian cuisine definitely give Blackcow a go you won’t be disappointed.

First time was not so good of an experience and second was good. Food is great but be prepared to wait a while. And they will only seat you inside if your having dinner otherwise you just have I wait for a table outside for dessert.

I’ve been waiting for Black Cow to be on Unilocal for me to write this review.
So the first time I went was maybe during the first or second week of opening, my first time was good, cheap dessert as well as nice service besides for the fact that we had to go up to the counter to order — personally not a big fan of that. Also the place was really nice but just the lighting was a big dark. I don’t remember exactly what I had but my friend has the volcano which was $ 10 and mine was $ 9.
Guess what, second time, maybe two weeks later — with one of my friend, got seated in the very corner where the seats didn’t have a back rest and the table was higher than my chair which meant I had to bend over to eat «the volcano» which was now $ 15. I mean if their goal was to get rid of me and my friend fast as it was a busy weekend night, they did a great job.

The new kid on the block in the ever so happening strip in Canley Heights. Blackcow definitely has all the bells and whistles as the place to be with its dark, funky interiors to the illuminated bar, but best of all is the fireplace oh and for the boys. The ever so inviting hostess (you’ll know what I mean when you get there)
However all this goes down the drain when an establishment that is purely presenting itself as a cocktail and dessert bar has
1. No liquor license approved to date
2. Desserts are small in serving, over priced and simply no good
Gelato was icy and flavours were terrible. We got a share bowl of 5 flavours and the scoops would’ve been tablespoon size each for $ 13?!
Sticky date pudding was like sponge cake and the sticky… Well it wasn’t so sticky and the nuts were stale.
All show no go!
However I will add the staff and management were absolutely beautiful pleasant people but just doesn’t cut it. I’m hoping these teething issues will be reviewed as there’s definitely potential here.

Went there the past weekend looking for a random place to have dessert on Saturday night. Initially wanted to goto what the fudge but this place caught my eye. Very nice décor, fancy and was too nice for canley heights! So was pleasantly surprised to find. I don’t think they were open for long as speaking to my friends that live around here they haven’t been or heard of it.
Anyway we sat down and was impressed with what was on menu — especially the options of alcoholic laced desserts and cocktails. In fact we were we were going to just order some cocktails. So we sat down, got comfortable, decided on our order then went up to register to order. Only then were we told they didn’t have a liquor license as yet. That was disappointing as there wasn’t any signage out front to advise that, nor did the wait staff who seated us and handed us the menu tell us that either. So in a way I thought that was a cheeky move at not telling customers until they are all settled in and ready to pay.
Other than that gripe I really like the concept and I look forward to visiting again and experience it for what it really is, a cocktail dessert bar that serves alcohol!
