To be honest I wasn’t overly impressed with fig tree deli. This was the first time I had been there so maybe I caught them on an off day but I only have this experience to go by. Staff were pleasant, no problems there. Had eggs benedict with bacon but honestly all I could taste was vinegar. I swear the eggs must of been poached in nothing but straight vinegar, it was terribly overpowering. My wife had the same and shared my opinion. I couldn’t do more than a couple mouthfuls. Coffee was average, not bad but not great just… average, however the mango smoothie was absolutely sensational. I won’t be in a rush to go back.

The wife and I were looking for a quick bite for lunch and came across the Fig Tree Deli. I ended up getting the steak sandwich and my wife got the chicken sandwich both were spectacular. My steak was so tender with a beer root chutney that set it apart from your normal steak sandwich. Service was quick and very friendly.

Nice setup and reasonable service and prices. Ordered the Spanish omelette it was great, a good size serving that came in a all in one pan deal. Coffee was good but could be stronger but that’s a personal thing. From what i saw it gets busy so getting a table maybe an issue.

Since I discovered this place I’ve eaten here at least once a week. The general consensus among my coffee loving friends is that it has the best coffee in Brisbane. It can be very hard to get a table at certain times, but it’s great if you can get one. The ambiance may not be the best– it’s in the same complex as a Woolworths — but they’ve made a nice little glass house seating area with a small garden around it where they grow herbs for their dishes. The breakfast menu isn’t super imaginative but is done well. The eggs benedict and avo on toasted turkish is great, and the staff are always willing to put up with my weird add-ons like sundried tomatoes and fetta-stuffed olives. Their pies melt in the mouth and I’ve yet to find a sandwich on their extensive menu that I haven’t loved.

If you like to brunch somewhere chic, surrounded by cool boutiques in a buzzy area, this might not be the place for you. It’s based in a small, suburban shopping centre in the Coorparoo/Camp Hill area. Inside there’s a deli counter and little mini grocery store(stocking high end oils, vinegars etc etc). And a huge trestle table where you can sit and sip coffee or brunch. If you’re after more space, just outside you can sit in the café’s «extension», which is quite spacious, airy and has huge French windows that open out. Unfortunately onto a carpark. I came here to order some gourmet salads for Christmas Day. And although they sounded amazing, creative and probably would have tasted divine — at $ 23.50/kilo, I had to fan myself with the menu and have a sit down. Before leaving without ordering. I have it on good authority that this is THE place that locals come for brunch on a weekend(but book a table). And the sarnies are apparently to-die-for. As is the expense, I’m sure.

Fig Tree Deli is your typical deli café with a range of meats, cheeses, oils and the like and plenty of seating both inside and out. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the space makes it an easy option if you’re looking to meet up with family or friends. While not extensive the menu is sure to feature at least something that will interest you. My personal pick being the BLAT with its thick bacon, generous smear of avocado and mayo it is a real treat. Their coffee is Merlo and is good without being anything to write home about. All things considered, a Sunday morning coffee and BLAT in their very open and breezy outside seating area is a great way to start winding down the weekend.
