Wilcox Cammeray

My wife and I enjoyed a couple of pre dinner cocktails at this lively and positively Vibey little bar. We arrived just after 7 and despite the bar being very busy were lucky enough to find 2 stools at the bar where we could watch the smiling bar folks ply their trade. I had the Negroni cocktail and my wife had an Aperol Spritz — both refreshing cocktails and recommend if you prefer something a little less sweet before dinner. We decided to make our way back after dinner for a night cap where we enjoyed café martini’s and a few laughs. Great place to start or end and evening in Cammeray.

I’m a big fan of Wilcox! It’s like two different establishments in one. At the front is the bar, which as well as being good for a drink before dining in the restaurant proper (at the back), is also good to as a stand-​alone bar. Whether along the bar or at the high tables, it a fab spot to while away a Friday night, with some drinks and a few of the bar snacks, such as sliders or a cheese platter. The bacon popcorn is delicious, but messy, and I miss the ice cream brioche. The bar staff are also ultra friendly!
I’ve also had a couple of dinners at the proper tables at the back. Each time the food has been faultless, with excellent styling. In particular, the desserts have been stunning, with lovely additions such as Persian fairy flossy on top. It’s best enjoyed without regard to cost, putting away a few cocktails and glasses of wine throughout the meal. I had a fabulous Valentine’s Day here this year, which while a set menu, was thoughtful and up to the usual standard, worth the cost.
Keep a look out for regular specials, such as the Pasta Nights on Wednesday’s — I should make another booking soon!

My favorite bar for dinner on the lower north shore! Amazing service and delicious food every time I attend. Cocktail specials on Fridays ensure I keep coming back. They know me too well! Won’t be disappointed, definitely come check out this little gem.

Been here quite a few times since it’s now the new local.
The fact the place is always busy is testament to two things– pent up demand and the quality of the establishment.
Good food, good service, good cocktails!

Excellent delicious food. Great menu. Good wine list… Happy attentive service
BUT … The noise level was beyond a joke !!!
I should have been clued up to this when I rang to book … The guy who answered the phone couldn’t hear me as background noise his end was deafening
Don’t even consider going to ‘Wilcox’ for a romantic dinner for two
We were a table of 4 and what should have been a pleasant enjoyable evening out with friends was almost torturous constantly asking everyone to repeat what was said.
Such a pity as we all commented on the food (except for the Lobster Ravioli — too much pasta not enough filling and the madeleine’s served with dessert — not good)
Otherwise ¹⁰⁄₁₀ for the food and service
Unfortunately we won’t be return customers until the noise situation is fixed.
