Been here many times before and tonight, it was pumping! They managed to find us a table quickly and serve us with the usual amount of speed and charm. Come here if you want a good vibe, comfy seats, food served fast and Asahi on tap. So-cal jap menu done well without the Nobu prices. Buttery textured miso-cod, crunchy and spicy tuna tatami, jalapeño kingfish and wasabi popcorn prawns are my go to. Yums

I really don’t like this place! Sounds crazy considering I was there twice in three days but had it been within my control I never would have been there at all! The menu selection is OK but a strange mix and missing some of my favourite dishes. The tonkatsu is nice but nothing spectacular. Unfortunately it was served a good 10 minutes after the meals of everyone else at the table. When we enquires as to why the meal hadn’t been brought out yet we were told that it take longer to make than the other meals. A clear display of poor service. Honestly what restaurant serves one meal so long after all the rest? It’s also near impossible to capture the attention of any wait staff so ordering drinks during the meal is unlikely to happen. They also do not ever offer the dessert menu so you’d need to attempt to get the attention of wait staff for that too however with only 2 hours free parking(and $ 20 for the third hour) there really isn’t time for dessert after waiting so long for a meal. If this wasn’t a favourite of one of my family members I wouldn’t ever be back.

Food was great enjoyed very much. Service was ok would have been great to advise that you can not order dessert after 9:00 pm as the kitchen is closed

This is reasonably recently opened in the same site as Sake Sake, which didn’t last long. I suspect some skullduggery as it really is exactly the same restaurant with a new name, the décor has not changed, the staff do not seem to have changed, and the menu is only slightly different. Anyhow, the ambiance here is good, the range of sakes is truly stupendous, and the food is well cooked and nicely presented. It is however pretty pricey for Japanese food, so do be prepared to pay a bit of a premium. Agadashi tofu is lovely and creamy with well flavoured broth and nice gooey miso topping. Wagyu beef is well cooked and presented, seasoned well and very tasty. Teriyaki chicken likewise well flavoured and presented. The staff are of traditional Japanese demeanour with a shouted out welcome when you enter — always a good sign! I recommend a try, but as I say, be prepared for a bit of sticker-shock.
