Prospects was my go-to for coffee when I was living in the Camberwell area. Also great for post market shopping on Saturdays where you can enjoy a great coffee and brunch whilst people watching. Coffee is amazing. If I’m feeling like a cheeky treat I’ll get the Vietnamese iced coffee which has condensed milk– my guilty pleasure! Food is great too– from the banana bread, to eggs and toast to the burger, I’ve never had a complaint. When busy this place does fill up quickly and seating can be difficult so get in early. Staff are also super hip and friendly, highly reccomended!

Busy, cosy and squishy when eating, Prospect Espresso is nonetheless well worth braving clashing elbows with a neighbour to try out. Staff are cool and on top of their game, and while not a big serve I probably had the best omelette I’ve had in recent memory here. The revolving door of take-away coffee patrons tells me they’ve got this covered too.

Great coffee, better service, always busy. Hard not to strike up a conversation. To find it though you’ll have to stumble upon it or actively seek it out — the sign is discreet. On Prospect Hill Rd near intersection with Burke.

Hipster coffee brunch joint overpriced though. Delicious and good coffee but expensive. I went in looking to spend $ 10 on a light snack. Ordered 2 poached eggs Nd a roast tomato(no bread btw) and was charged $ 14 for it! Appalled I could of bought 2 cRtons of eggs and tomatoes and done myself at home!

Joint best coffee place in Camberwell for sure. When it comes to this area Prospect Espresso and My Other Brother top the coffee charts by a country mile. It’s great to get coffee on the go or sit in and watch the world go by whilst sipping on a latte. The place is quite small and fills up quickly especially on the weekend, so expect queues if you come at peak time. They have a pretty good food menu. The house made rosti is worth a go which includes salmon and poached eggs and the fruit toast and banana bread are really tasty as well. Meals are a little on the pricey side for the portion size, but for the coffee and vibe I think it’s worth paying. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area.

Quickly now. Gather in nice and close. No, closer… and a little closer. Yep, it’s pretty tiny in Prospect and it doesn’t help come the weekend when it’s so busy you may as well sit on each others laps — we’re all friends after all aren’t we? But it’s rammed for a reason. Great coffee and great staff. I’ve seriously never had a bad coffee here. At $ 4 for a small I shouldn’t either. Staff are always friendly and efficient but if you happen to pop in during a quiet time(is there such a thing?) they are always up for a chat about coffee, food or random life happenings. I do like the food here but am sometimes left feeling a little ripped off in the price vs serving size stakes. That said, Kellie H is right — the bread is honestly the size of your head. If you can’t find a seat at least grab a take away — one of the best places in Camberwell for coffee.

With Collective Espresso… well let’s just say that it’s not as we used to know it since the change in management, I decided to try Prospect Espresso. You know what? I wasn’t disappointed. With wooden floorboards, cool tunes in the background, friendly staff and and open kitchen where you can see the guys working away at the back, this place is cool. It’s not very big and you’d really struggle to find seating when it’s busy but, what it lacks in space, it makes up for it in quality. The coffee is good and the muffins, cupcakes and other sweet treats that are on display look really really nice. There’s a good choice of brekkie and brunch/lunch option on the menu and they’ve definitely made my list for next time when I’m after some food. Check it out…

This was a happy discovery. I had the choice between this and another close located café and I was so happy I chose this. Nice smooth coffee was presented and although I didn’t feel like much on the menu(just one of those days) I had a very yum goats cheese and rocket omelette with a side of sourdough the size of my head dripping in butter. YESPLEASE. A small little place, with friendly staff and I will be back to devour more.

Wow, how about a good selection of beans. Prospect had both Proud Mary and Seven Seeds. That is almost as good as it gets. So much respect for this little place. I just popped in on my way through this morning to grab a take away flat white. Really nice as well. The café, though cosy had a great feel to it and the staff were really friendly. Although I haven’t tried the food here, they do a great job on their coffee, better than coffeehead nearby. This is definitely my go-to place in Camberwell now.

I have tried a few other cafes on Burke street area when what I wanted was Prospect Espresso. Strangely located on a street with same name, this guys are doing an amazing job at making the best coffee in the area, the best food and needless to say a beautifully decorated café with an all welcoming customer service. I will surely be seen here whenever I am in the area.

I don’t hold many super-powers, but one that I do find useful from time to time, is the ability to instantly gauge when people actually care about what they do. The first time I walked into Prospect Espresso, I knew that the people cared about what they were doing and the service they were providing. I suspect that the two main guys(they are the ones who I see there more than the others and seem to have a subtle aura of command about them) are the owners. In fact I strongly suspect this because it shows… Their house blend coffee is interesting enough to have you coming back, but broad enough to be loved by varying tastes, and served well by baristas(normally the two main guys) who obviously know how to work the machine(of a type I have not seen before…). The menu is also a mix of twists to classics, often served on small bread-boards rather than plates(this must save them a fortune in broken crockery, but if the soup isn’t popular, I can guess why.) I haven’t tried a dish with lettuce in it yet, so I can’t comment on whether they use Iceberg, but I hope they do. The Prospect doesn’t get too noisy, but is noisy enough to give it life and overcome that uncomfortable of having a conversation heard by the one person on the other-side of the room. Lovers of i-thingies will also marvel at the use of iPads instead of cash-registers.(Note to self: Until Prospect, I had never noticed how much more friendly a café is, without a large point of sale device sitting on the counter with the approachability and appeal of a Dalek, from Dr Who.) There are other emerging coffee places in Camberwell(…I’ve been waiting a long, long time to have choice…) but for the time being, or at least until the two-owner guys stop working, Prospect will be a regular for me. If I could improve any aspect, I would change the bar stools. They look good but are a bit uncomfortable(at least for derrière). Also, if closing time is 1630, then the coffee machine shouldn’t close at 1600, especially when the place is still quite full. Finally, and importantly, Prospect lost a rating star because Porridge is not on the menu… I’m sorry, but that is non-negotiable.

Great coffee but the food could be a lot better if it wants to compete with the quality being produced by Coffeehead nearby.

A great little café tucked away in Camberwell Junction. Highly recommend you stop by this new addition for a bite to eat from a simple but tasty menu and a coffee. I think I have found my new local.
