The dream of preserving our local heritage started with the formation of the Caboolture Historical Society in 1959.
History
Established in 1959.
The formation of the Caboolture Historical Society in 1959 was the catalyst for the formation of the Museum at its current site, with the first building arriving 20 years later. This building was the old Caboolture Shire Council Chambers, which is set up, just as it was all those years ago.
The Village Museum continues to grow and currently over 70 buildings and many thousands of historical items are housed in its grounds; making it one of the largest such Museum’s in Queensland, with many unique displays.
It houses the only Museum dedicated to our feathered friends, in the Southern Hemisphere, in fact one of three in the world. In recognition of the birds and animals who served in the wars that our servicemen and women participated, there is a memorial to them opened in September 2014. Again, this is something else which is unique to this Museum.
Watch for our special event days and come along and enjoy the fun with re-enactments, parades, and lots of fun for all.
