What should have been a pretty good experience was soured by the fact that the ladies who gave my friends and I a manicure made rude and hurtful comments about me in Vietnamese, unaware that my friend could understand what they were saying. Totally unprofessional.

You don’t even have to make an appointment. The next time you walk past this place, take a quick peek down at your little piggies. Are they looking a little bare, a bit drab and colourless perhaps? Are the soles of your feet rough and dry after months of being swaddled in thick socks over winter? Well then, don’t even think about taking a step further without dropping in at Tips & Toes and giving your fingers and toes a very special treat. There are about a thousand different nail polish colours to choose from. Ok, I exaggerate but there are lots of colours to choose from, and only the best brand of nail polish of course — Opi. Pick your colour then decide if you want a pedicure($ 35), a manicure($ 25), or a combination mani-pedi($ 50). Of course, there are lots of other nail services to choose from too. Personally, I cannot look past the pedicure. I just love sinking into those enormous, all-enveloping massage chairs, trashy celebrity magazine in hand, dunking my feet into my very own jacuzzi of warm water, and letting the wonderful staff work their magic. It always puts a spring in my step and, uh, spirit in my fingers. On a really serious note — I do wonder how hygienic this whole set up is. I’m sure tools and equipment are washed thoroughly, but is that enough to kill the germs that spread nasty things like nail and foot fungus? I’m no doctor, I just wonder about this. Something to think about, huh.
