Smiley McSlidey

On the corner of Nicholson and Blyth stands a shop with Venetians folded closed. There’s a strange blue bike decal on one glass door and wicked street art usually found on the other. Located across the road from 3RRR, a local radio station, I always assumed this was use as storage or something.
But there have been two occasions now that I can tell you happily this is not the case.
Instead this corner room is actually a gallery space for hire. Known as Smiley McSlidey — not the in strangest of names — this white walled room could easily fit twenty or do people around a small collection of art. Be it jewelers or painting or even a lift show, the almost claustrophobic nature of the place provides intimate settings for all kinds of art.
The space also serves as a pop-​up shop for smaller labels, so if you’re nearby be sure to pop around to see what’s happening. Gallery openings are often catered, which is even more of a winner.
