We felt like some lunch during the bondi to bronte walk. We chose this place because they had some free tables, and when we sat down I realised it was Salina, and had been recommended to me in the past by a local. The menu had a good mix of interesting salads, and good café food like burgers. Everything that came out looked good. We both had salads they were tasty, but what really let the place down was service. They were never rude, but just not really aware of what was going on. We hadn’t looked at our menus for over 5 minutes, and while being able to seat and take orders from people either side of us they seemingly couldnt see we were ready to order. I was doing everything to make eye contact, and the nearby tables were about 20 cm away. I eventually had to stand up to get someone to come over. Not a big deal, but a let down and when I’m hungry I get irrational.

We chose Caffe Salina after checking out all of the open cafes on the strip. Good choice! The prawn salad and sourdough bread with tomato, avocado, and feta were delicious! We left content and not overly stuffed. I would go back to this restaurant again if I’m ever in Bronte Beach again.

I am a Bronte local and this is one of my favorite cafes on the strip. Like all the cafes here, getting a table at peak times is hard but other times when I have the choice, here is where I come. Service is friendly and water/your drink of choice is promptly offered when you find a table.(Unlike one place on the strip where you wait 10 minutes at your table before realising you have to order inside!) Prices here are reasonable and I recommend the coffee and the food. Prawn linguini and Salina egg stack are my favorites. This place serves alcohol and you get a nice white napkin and shiny cutlery delivered to you on ordering food(rather than grabbing it from a cutlery holder yourself like next door). I also saw the online voucher offer too mentioned in the other review and jumped on it by ordering 5 breakfast ones and a lunch one. I managed to use all of them no problem. During the summer this place is open in the evenings for dinner too.

I bought a voucher from Groupon or one of those daily deals sites for breakfast for two at Café Salina. The voucher was valid for three months. I had a friend visiting from overseas so I thought I’d treat him to a cliff walk from Bondi to Bronte and a late breakfast at Salina(after checking that they serve late breakfast). The walk was great, we were starving, and Salina was closing due to a gas leak or something. Unlucky but shit happens. I had a different friend visiting a few weeks later(in my industry I have a lot of friends passing through town) and decided to try the same thing again. We got there at around the same time and were told they were closing early again due to some other disaster! I had three unlucky breaks with visiting Salina, and each time I saw people sitting there so they must exist outside my imagination– but my voucher expired and I never got to use it on the corn fritters I was eyeing off. So this is an anti-review but I felt my three non-event attempts deserved some sort of write-up.
