They say looks can be deceiving and so it is true in the case of Il Mondo Café. Looking like a delightful little Italian ristoranté unfortunately the food does not deliver what the décor and menu suggests it should.
The home made lasagne has as much flavour as the Woolies home brand variety, and whilst the square, wood fired oven cooked slices of pizza look authentic, the fact they’ve been sitting in a bain-​marie for half a day take away the enjoyment that could have been found if it had been fresh.
Perhaps I got them on a bad or slow day, but unfortunately what promised to be an enjoying slice of gourmet pizza and a traditional pasta feast turned into a big fat flop.
