Oaks Festival Towers

I’m hoping my next stay is better, I waked into a room that obviously hadn’t been finished, all the cupboards were open and the lounge had pillows stacked up on the floor, not thinking I rectified the problem and reverted straight to the free Fox, only a hand full of channels, and it was hard to work out how to get Fox to work then realise I had to nearly retune the tv,
After a long meeting day I walked into a room where house keeping hadn’t touched, normally I won’t complain about such little things but I wasn’t in the mood, so I asked at least for my bin to be emptied as I had a pizza box and fast food boxes that were beginning to get rank, they came did the job were very apologetic, I felt terrible afterwards,
I had a blind break in the middle of the night, I fixed it best I could and reported it to be fixed, again came back to nothing done. And seeing a. Fist mark in the fridge was a put off,
Hoping my next visit is better, it’s got great facilities and staff are extremely friendly, but I just had a small turn off this trip, hoping next I me it’s better

This is my second visit to The Oaks Festival Towers and I can honestly say this visit has put me off ever staying at a Oaks Hotel again.
On my first trip to Brisbane booking a one bedroom apartment didn’t see me encounter to many problems, they have pretty poor housekeeping and they have incredibly poor wifi connection but I recently found out that some of the apartment are privately owned and rented to the hotel on a contract so the rooms and furniture stay mostly well kept in comparison to my following stay. It’s pretty much luck of the draw when you stay here at Festival Towers.
During my second stay I opted for a two bedroom apartment. I’m here on business but I also have a friend flying up and staying with me for a few days to spend our free time together exploring Brisbane. We agreed it would just be easier and cheaper to share a 2 bedroom (paying almost $ 300 per night) We were mistaken.
On my arrival to the Oaks the staff where friendly and helpful but on entering the room I was sorely disappointed. The room had an overwhelming smell of bleach, which by the end of the first day caused me so much nausea and a serves migraine that I requested to move rooms. It was small, cramped, dingy and all the furniture looked particularly filthy and old. It was impossible to even get my suitcase in the bedroom without having to move furniture around. The air conditioning also didn’t seem to work in the bedrooms and the room was boiling hot. You would think that in 40 degree Brisbane weather that’s something they would pay close attention to making sure it is operating correctly. Leaving it to run all day while I was out of the room seemed to make no difference. To make matters worse The Oaks only provides one key (yes that’s right a key not a swipe) even for their two bedrooms rooms. The intercoms also do not work or have been switched off, so when my friend arrived I have to go down and collect her. Each time she leaves the room I either have to give her my key or coordinate our timing so that I don’t get locked out or she has to call me to come down and get her from reception. A difficult and inconvenient task when I am here on business, attending meetings and also working on my computer in the room and cannot at least just buzz her up.
The staff were considerate and helpful in switching rooms, however the second room is not much better. The smell of bleach is gone but the furniture is still gross, dirty and outdated. The rooms are poorly lit and from the new room the adjacent buildings look straight into the apartment. Meaning that if we would like any privacy the blinds have to stay closed, causing an even more poorly lit room. This room is less cramped but I’m still highly disappointed with the quality. It looks nothing like the pictures online and I would quite happily have paid the same amount or more if I had known my stay here would have been so complicated and distressing.
My friend who has joined me on my trip has decided to book her own room today to avoid the hassle of having to time our schedules since even in the new room the intercom still doesn’t work.
It saddens me to write such a distasteful review as I have stayed in Oaks hotels all around Australia and prior to this experience I would have continued to stay with them for many more years. The Oaks Lonsdale in Melbourne is usually up to standard and what you see on their website is really what you get. While the staff have been nice and helpful during my stay I’m still not convinced that another visit here will be any different (unless I stay in a one bedroom and am lucky enough to get one privately owned) I highly recommend finding somewhere else to stay when traveling to Brisbane. This is a very poorly put together service apartment.

The room’s are comfortably furnished. Gym is lacking a little. Long waits for elevators.

Rooms were ok, rather dark and dingy. Sadly common areas on floors are not air conditioned, making the long wait for the slow lifts to be very uncomfortable to say the least.

When my mum visits us in Brisbane she stays at Oak Festival Towers. The apartments are very sleek, clean, and modern. She usually books a one-​bedroom apartment, which has ample space for the five of us kids to laze around and admire the dazzling views from her living room. The apartment itself boasts a large fridge, and a massive bedroom with closet space.
The resort has a heated 25 metre lap pool, sauna, and gym, along with other standard facilities. Oaks Festival Towers has a 4.5 star rating and although the rooms are quite pricey ($ 129 per night for a standard one bedroom apartment), it’s a good alternative to a hotel if you’re after something more personalised and homey. It’s also located in the heart of the city, which is very much suited to those on business trips as well as holiday makers.
