I took my staff to the Garden city café NOTRESTAURANT and the food was way over priced and very average. Menu was boring and lame. $ 24 for a pizza which was a very thin piece of dough a bit of cheese and several slices of pepperoni ??? What’s with that. Restaurant prices for a café LOWSTANDARD ! Average of $ 30 for a la carter and average of $ 9 for you side of veges, salad or fries! You will not see me here again !! $ 39 for a main … What a joke!

Ambience — tick, food — tick, prices — tick, service — not so tick. Located in the courtyard of Garden City Shopping Centre surrounded by nice lights, music, people and lots of other restaurants, this place is worth checking out. We were there on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. The only problem was we booked a table and waited to be served for a long time, had we not waved the waitress over continuously. The food came out quickly and it was delicious, service was the only thing letting this place down. Maybe they were a wait staff down? I’d come back, my 3 friends and I ordered most things on the entrées to share and we had a pizza as well, bill came to about $ 40 each including drinks and a jug of Sangria. Don’t order the Sangria… it was terrible. Besides from the Sangria and service, this place would have been a 4 star affair. Worth checking out though!

I stopped in for a coffee around lunch time and although the coffee and atmostphere was great the service was not so good. The waitress seemed like she did not want to be there and was not helpful at all. We waited 20 minutes for our coffees to be served to us.

I was so very excited to try this place when it opened at the redone Westfield Garden City. I took the opportunity to try dinner on New Years Eve which probably wasn’t the wisest choice but my fears were soon squashed. The service here is impeccable. I’ve been here for both breakfast and dinner and have never left disappointed. The space is very large with indoor and outdoor seating by the water feature which creates a nice atmosphere. You barely notice the shoppers walking past your table. The food is pretty amazing. Specifically the beetroot hommus! That is a standout and one of the cheapest items on the menu! The great thing about the Hatch and Co menu is that you can order from it share style with lots of little plates and tapas or you can order main meals and pizzas or a mixture of both. We’ve done all three. Their pizzas are super large and theres a few varieties, pasta dishes are a highlight and the small plates aren’t so small and there’s tonnes of varieties. The breakfast menu also has plenty of options for both the savoury and the sweet lovers. These are also served in huge portions so be warned. They have a couple of options I’ve not seen before either like the flatbread with boiled eggs. I hadn’t hear such stellar things about the service but this has not been an issue for me. In fact, the service has always been outstanding. Even when the waitress put my breakfast order in wrong, she brought out toast with butter and some sides to keep me going while I waited for the breakfast to be remade. I have no problems with mistakes being made, they happen to the best of us but it’s about how the mistake is handled and she handled it like a champion. So service is 10⁄10 for me. Next time you head here for a spot of shopping, a movie or just for dinner make this your first choice!

The coffee was good which is always a bonus. The food was decent but way overpriced. Unfortunately the service was disappointing with the waitress being extremely unhelpful. All in all an ok place but you would expect more from the food and especially the service given what they charge. But worth a take away coffee if you are in a hurry.

Having heard good things about the Hatch and Co. at Newstead I was very excited to try the addition to the recently redone area at Garden City. I don’t want to say that I was disappointed but maybe my expectations were too high and Hatch and Co. fell a bit short, but then again maybe I wasn’t ‘adventurous’ enough with choices. Pizza was delicious(can’t really go wrong with a Margherita) but I wasn’t very ‘wow-ed’ by the eggplant salad and the overly eggy aioli that was served with the hot chips. The saviour of the meal was the cocktail jug a citrusy take on a sangria — it was a summer special so I’m not sure if it’s a regular on their drinks menu. I may be back again, depending on how lavish with my money I’m feeling the next time I’m at Garden City.

We shared the eye fillet with a couple of sides and that was plenty of delicious melt in your mouth goodness. Service was excellent. My new favourite restaurant.
