History

Established in 2013.

Disruptor’s Founder Catherine Gomersall, started the hybrid new media studio to bring together a diverse pool of creative and technical talent. The web studio started in 2013, and at the end of that year we held a conference for creatives working with screen technology. In 2014 our author’s are working on the first book release through Disruptor Press entitled, «Expanded and Experimental: Creative Research in Screen Work». The book is due for release in 2015 and will provide an overview of the state of play in practice and theory in the digital industries, including web, virtual reality, experimental art, gaming, film-​making, photography, music and special effects.

Meet the Business Owner

Catherine G.

Business Owner

Catherine Gomersall is an artist, independent curator and geek. She has a background working with photography, video and digital technologies. Many of her artistic projects have taken place in the communities of Perth and Brisbane, however, she has also exhibited and undertaken research in the USA and Europe. A residency at the Node Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin in 2012 and exhibitions of her photographs in both Los Angeles and New Orleans are highlights. In 2011, the artist became a PhD, her project entitled, On Fate and Fatalism: Photography and Fatal Theories. Catherine has received qualifications from Edith Cowan University, Queensland University of Technology and Southbank Institute of TAFE. She has extensive experience as a researcher and teacher. Catherine’s current art project, entitled 3DArtWorld, is a collaboration with Steven Brodie at Ai3D, and involves experimenting with augmented and virtual reality and other 3D technologies.
