This place is in the foyer of one of the office blocks. You can sit down and eat right next to the elevators. As far as I can tell, there’s not much difference between this place and Alen’s next door. They have Alen’s takeaway cups here, they both offer the same lunch specials, etc. Is that a bad thing? No! The coffee is good, the hot chocolates are good, the food i’ve had so far is quite tasty, even your bacon and egg muffin goes a step above with some herbs on it making it extra delicious. The staff are pretty darn friendly too!

The slightly more formal and corporate counterpart to Alen’s Espresso comes in the form of Chapter Two, located just next door in the foyer of an office building. Offering more tables and seating that are more spread out, it caters for the office crowd who need to sit down and do some work or have lunch meetings. There is a good selection of breakfast and lunch options on offer, however on this particular visit I only had time for coffee. Although I have not made it to Alen’s yet, there are already good expectations with their exclusive Mocopan coffee blend on point. I am excited to return soon to Chapter Two for food and to visit Alen’s Espresso next door.

The Northern part of Brisbane’s commercial area, centred around the law courts, is somewhat bereft of good choices when it comes to coffee and casual eating options. Chapter Two is the second installation from the team at Alen’s next door, offering a greater range of sit-down and seating options. Coffee is spot on per Alen’s MO and the larger kitchen allows a bit more creativity for the team.

This place is super cute and the staff are really friendly. Missed out on the lunch menu by about 15 minutes so make sure you get there before 2pm because after that you can’t order from the kitchen. With that being said I had a lovely chocolate brownie, sausage roll and hot chocolate for lunch. I’ll definitely have to go back to suss out the menu properly but by the looks of it, it’s super cute with good coffee. Definitely check it out if you’re at that end of the city :)

If I worked in an office tower, I’d want a foyer café like this. Wholesome by design and wholesome in its offering of juices, smoothies, salads and coffee. I didn’t have a coffee on this particular visit but it’s from Alen’s(next door) and owned by the same team so, you know, it’s in good hands. Have you seen the morning lines out of that place? I opted for a Green Machine Juice and avocado on gluten free toast. My toast is served on a cutting board and my avocado DIY. There was a little more avocado than I could fit on my GF toast but it was delicious and a reasonable $ 9. My juice, served in the vessel du jour(a mason jar with a handle) also drew novelty points for a metal straw. You’ve been warned: don’t bite down hard on this straw! You don’t want your breakfast to come with a gift with purchase trip to the dentist. The atmosphere is fairly standard of a foyer café and I was left to my own devices to punch away on my laptop before the people I was meeting with arrived. Above all else, it’s great to see this stretch of Roma /George Street come alive with something as on-trend and decent as Chapter Two.
