Martin St Café is the hit of this strip, which is hidden next to the Nepean Hwy in Brighton. This little are doesn’t get noticed much where this café makes it worth having a little look. The menu has some great dishes such as the baked eggs with chorizo or the egg white zucchini fritter. The setting is beautiful on a sunny day with there being a sunny courtyard to sit in or a half outdoor area that looks like a balcony of a boat shed. Unfortunately, the day I went we had a Melbourne storm come through so it was a tiny bit cramped and noisy inside. However, the coffee is good and the staff are friendly where perhaps the only downfall is the fact that everything is a few dollars more expensive than usual. Still, a really nice place to go for breakfast!

Amongst the baron backstreets that leek out onto the Nepean Highway, littered only with nondescript takeaway stores, you would never dream to find a café like Martin Street Providore. Even when you first enter, you don’t quite expect the place to snake into a beautiful, lush courtyard fit for the best Sunday morning hangover breakfasts. The Providore offers many a meal with the all important all-day breakfast. Options are pretty standard, much like the flavours, but the café isn’t trying to stand out. It may be a hindrance depending on how you look at it, but children are always here. If you’re a parent, this is a great, relaxed place to drag the kids out for a bite. If you’re a young adult who still squirms at the sound of a child screaming, it can get to be a little much.
