History

Established in 2012.

The Char Rotisserie is the brain child of Phil Abram. He’s been around for a while and has been serving up awesome chicken in the Eastern Suburbs for almost 30 years.

The Char has a reputation for having big, tasty and super delicious Free Range Rotisserie chickens plus you will find an almost obscene choice of up to 17 salads made fresh on the premises daily. Add to that pasta’s, curries, stews, noodles, pies, vegies and chips and you really won’t ever need to cook again.

Meet the Business Owner

Phil A.

Business Owner

Phil has been in the food industry since the age of 17. Starting out as a butcher with his Dad, he took the natural progression into food retail back in 1996 opening ‘Chicken Out’ in Coogee.

By 1998 Phil had moved on and changed Bondi Road forever opening ‘Taste’. This became an institution and so he expanded into Newtown in 2000.

Three years later Phil decided to change his 7 day week work schedule and sold out of Taste to open a new salad concept he’d seen in the USA.

In 2003 ‘Saladworks’ was born with the flagship store on Hunter Street in the city of Sydney. Over the next 8 years Saladworks spawned a number of other locations including Bondi Junction, George Street, York Street, Piccadilly Arcade and World Square.

But Phil missed the East and decided to re-invent himself on Bondi Road again.

The Char Rotisserie opened in February 2013 and has been going from strength to strength.
