I think this place has a bad rap from the regulars of the former ramen business that used to occupy this space.(Ramen Kan) I’ve been using it for about 3 years and it’s always been the same reliable, albeit not always great, but steady, not friendly but not completely rude either, kind of middle of the road place. It’s not a «meh» but not wow either. Their pork broth varies from day to day, and some days are better than others. As far as ramen in Bondi goes, I would say its an okay choice– I’m keeping it in my rotation until I discover something better.

Tried the tonkotsu ramen and their«Bondi Ramen». First of all its a bit expensive than the places I eat in CBD(ramen restaurants). The tonkotsu broth was not really good. It was very salty and not very thick. Basically, the taste of the ramen broth comes from the salt and the condiments they put and NOT from the pork bone. I’ve had so many better ramen. I dont even want to describe the«Bondi Ramen», I just didn’t like it.

We used to live in Sydney for years and always enjoyed a trip to Ramen Kan. We returned here after years away and assumed it had simply changed name, given the décor and store was the same, all except the menu. Sadly we were really disappointed and it turns out it is a ‘new’ restaurant or management. The ramen is a pale imitation of Ramen Kan’s excellent noodles. Broth and noodle quality and taste just ok. The service was also a shade of it’s former occupant. This is all in all now simply a pretty average ramen joint not worth crossing the road for. Will miss Ramen Kan.

I like my broth like I like my chest hair: thick, yo. We’re spoiled for ramen in Sydney. Or as I like to call it, Little Japan. There are so many amazing places dishing up collagen-rich bowls of steaming tonkotsu and tender chashu that the bar is set very high indeed, my friends. And this ramen is just okay. There are about 30 different types to choose from, my eyes did a little epileptic dance down the menu trying to find what I wanted. I settled on the hot & spicy pork ramen, which was curiously white and had diced cubes of(admittedly tender) pork which was unusual. It was a little watery and needed more kick. My buddy got the Bondi ramen, which tasted like water and soy sauce unfortunately, he definitely had the weakest order. The salmon udon was gigantic and packed full of grilled salmon, and the Half Ramen sets with Agedashi tofu and sashimi are very good value at around the $ 16 mark. I’ll hit one of them up next time.

WARNING: this is not Ramen Kan and you should not assume that it is. This might seem a little unfair as they don’t claim to be… and are a different name/business… but we were led to come here based off an old Google entry that lists it at this address. Now… since I’m heavily jaded… let me start with saying that if the fact they had the word ‘Ramen’ in their name and had some similar menu items… that would be the only thing that I would say is remotely similar to Ramen Kan. The entrée Sashimi & Gzoya we ordered were good… they weren’t amazing… they weren’t bad… but you know what was disappointing? Not being provided with plates for what is obviously a shared entrée. I shrugged and let Wasabi/soy sauce drip on their table as I was not about to panic whilst enjoyed the sashimi.(? What gives). The ramen, the one thing that we were keen on … was depressing. My Kariage Ramen was so bland that when I asked for Soy Sauce to add to the broth(to give it some/any flavour) it had zero effect. That’s right… my bowl apparently was stubbornly against me enjoying my ramen. Now, this is a pretty rough review… and to be fair, there were some other patrons that appeared to be locals that came in. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, perhaps it was an off day… but man… I really did not appreciate paying for what I had here and there is not a hope that I’ll be ever coming back when Ichiban Boshi is around the corner. Sorry guys.

Boo Boo Boo ! This place used to be called Ramen Kan. Perhaps there is a change of management?(hence the change of name?). Whatever it is, this place is no longer as good as before. Didnt like the tempura/teriyaki beef and takoyaki was pathetically small :( Hate to say this but dont think im coming back here again!(gonna miss Ramen Kan…)

Can’t believe this place didn’t exist on Unilocal! Most amazing Japanese, so tasty yet so affordable! The salmon is to die for and the tofu(even for those who don’t usually eat it) is so tasty. That’s right! I just called tofu tasty! Well worth venturing out of the shopping centre — it’s just down the road. Oh and fried broccoli! Friendly staff, awesome green tea and pleasant atmosphere. Check it out!
