These guys are pretty good for what they do, they have a big range of models and toys. I came here when I was looking for some model trains from my nephew. I was impressed with what they had, and the dude seemed to know what he was on about. I’ve also been back since when I needed a present for my husband, and once again service was fantastic.

I really do like this shop. When I’m not writing or messing around with computers, I just absolutely love putting models and things together. I’ve managed to limit myself mainly to building static models, but the call of the remote-controlled planes just seems to get a bit louder every year. The other thing that I’m drawn to more and more as the years go by, is the phenomenon that seems to be model trains. The attention to detail is just astounding. I really like this shop. The staff are really helpful and full of good ideas if you’re piecing something together and you’re a bit stuck on how to proceed. They’ve got plenty of paints and that sort of thing, too. I think this is an awesome shop, and could spend hours in here.

Hobbies. Most of us have them. Another word that’s more or less interchangeable with ‘hobby’ is pastime, so named for its purpose to help pass the time(though it’d pass just as well on its own, without the help). We do plenty of things to pass the time, but the word ‘hobby’ is often attributed to toys for the middle-aged and elderly. In fact, strip a ‘hobby’ store of its current label and paint ‘toy shop’ in its place, and no one would know the difference. Of course, a hobby shop usually features toys quite beyond the capabilities of a small child(and quite beyond the patience of some large children). My hobbies are reading and writing and going to the beach, etc., etc. So I didn’t feel the need to up and buy out the store the moment I entered it. But that didn’t stop me from being impressed by what was on offer. There’s an enormous display of toys, from trains to cars to kites to planes… I could see this sort of thing becoming a sort of addiction, which is part of the reason why I stayed away from the purchases. Of course, I’ll be sure to return here in a decade or three.(I’m being intentionally cruel. Don’t mind me. People of ALL ages can find enjoyment here.)

I love building things. A lot of my work involves me sitting on the phone taking calls all day. While doing this I like to build little models. I’ve imported a few from Japan over the years, mostly for obscure things like Samurai Pizza Cats, then I discovered this place. While there are no Pizza Cats here(those models have long been out of production, I just pick them up on Japanese auction sites) they have an impressive selection of models. From tanks to animé it’s all here in its box ready for you to build. They supply everything, from glue to paint and can also offer advice. They also supply Scalextric(or other racing set) parts, and have a nice model train set on display. I always wanted a model train set as a kid, and envisioned something along the lines of what they have here. Looking back, what I wanted was never achievable, which may be why model trains tend to be the hobby of older people. There’s a lot to do here, and a lot to keep you busy. The prices are reasonable, maybe a little bit less than some other places I know of that sell models. If you walk through the doors of Hobby Habit don’t expect to leave empty handed.
